9th @Mountaineer: 5F Clm5000N2Y ~ purse $6,600 ~ 7/19/16
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3YO+Up which have not won 2 races in 12 months
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Two runners step up in class, two take slight drop
(one making local debut). Early pace scenario looks solid enough.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) My Jokester (7/2 ML)- New face obvious threat for top J/T tandem,
but 8YO has no works & been scratched 3 times (2 Vet) since last start.
2) Gambaru (5/1 ML)- Class drop, return to Parker could move up 8YO
who tends to cut it close even on best effort. ML Price tempting.
3) Storm Snow (8/1 ML)- Third off year layoff for 8YO who beat a
weak bunch two back when bet down to 2/1 fave. Against Snow this spot.
4) Young Forester (9/2 ML)- Stalk'n Pounce tactics likely for 6YO
stepping up from "The Bottom". Could be solid key under, win unlikely.
5) Chatito (5/1 ML)- Cruised in last at this level, eligible TO THE DAY,
however pace flow looks a lot quicker here. 4YO scary w/move forward.
6) Borren Identity (15/1 ML)- No luck in 4 tries at this level, loses
"The Q" to invader, but Jurado fine sub. 7YO #TargetSpeed, can't endorse.
7) Induce (3/1 ML Fave)- Tepid favorite rolled off long layoff, loses
Lagunes to Chatito, & wheels back in 9 days. 7YO Bounce candidate?
8) Bill Nack (8/1 ML)- Closer draws well & should get pace, but 6YO
seems off form, cutback to 5F big question: will it cure recent hang jobs?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Top Two ML choices have some questions-
Can induce step up in class off 9-day break facing more early pressure?
Can My Jokester fire off layoff with no posted works & recent scratches?
I'm willing to take swing against both in my Pick-5, & will use
defensively in a Pick-4 if i can find a 6/1 ML of higher single in earlier leg.
I'm going THREE deep in Pick-5:
Gemaru should get dream trip second flight with Parker.
Chatito just won at this level, waited til tonight to come right back.
Bill Nack a stretch off recent form, but Owner/trainer can pop at a price.
#'s 2-5-8 in Pick-5.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & SEE YOU at Night School!

8th @Mountaineer: 5F F&M Clm5000N2Y ~ purse $6,600 ~ 7/19/16
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillies & Mares, 3YO+Up, non-winners of 2 races in 12 months.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Two step up in class off big wins, Two go Turf-2-Dirt,
One adds 3 furlongs (660 yards),& ML fave returns off 71-day break.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Kallies Kruisin (5/1 ML)- Fffast from gate, 5YO steps up while
facing lots of other early lick. Graded comment line:"Know early".
2) Ima Given (6/1 ML)- 11YO warrior gets favorable pace set-up &
top jock takes over (Oliveros goes to #1). Ima gainst repeat.
3) This Cat's On Fire (7/2 ML)- Turf-2-Dirt for 8YO, couldn't match
early speed of Oranges two back at this level.
4) Oranges N Violets (3/1 ML)- Ortiz back & 3F added, could be
speed of the speed. Betting Value will likely not be part of the package.
5) Starship Streaker (9/2 ML)- Out of same turfer as Cat on Fire,
controlled slow early pace two back. Can 8YO stalk'n Pounce here?
6) Holy Charm (5/2 ML Fave)- Right back at level of last win, great
post for off-the-pace style. Ten week break w/one 3F work main ??.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE:
ML fave figures if she's able to retain form off break, but margin for
error is slim. Loads of speed, if one clears they could wire'em, but
I'm only going two deep in Pick-4/5: #5-6
The fave Holy Charm & Starship Streaker,
hoping that an outside post will allow Hernandez options on SS early.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & See you at NIGHT SCHOOL!
