Here’s what liberals DON’T want you to know about Louisiana shooting victim

Yes, the nation is once again horrified to learn another black man tragically lost his life after an altercation with police. Alton Sterling was shot and killed Tuesday just after midnight in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Listen to the liberal narrative and you’ll hear that Sterling was killed for selling CDs outside of a Triple S Food Mart. There’s a bit more to the story, of course.
Police were called after Sterling had been threatening a homeless man with a firearm for asking him if he had any spare change. The homeless man had made the 911 call. After police arrived, Sterling had resisted arrest, and appeared to make a grab for his firearm at one point. This is still disputable, however. In the video footage of the shooting, you can hear the officer shout “He’s got a gun!” and “if you f—king move, I swear to God.” One of the officers then says something unintelligible, and two shots are fired.
So who is Alton Sterling? For starters, liberals should know he possessed an illegal firearm. As a felon with a lengthy rap sheet, Sterling is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Police records show Sterling had been a member of the Bloods gang, and had a list of offenses including battery, assault, drugs and weapons charges, and owed $25,000 in child support. He was also a registered pedophile, having impregnated a 14-year-old girl when he was 20. The media, by contrast, has portrayed him as a loving father of five.

What happened is undoubtedly tragic. The circumstances of the shooting still aren’t completely clear, and nobody deserves to die just for having a criminal record. However, it would be just as dishonest to portray this story as just another man living his life who was gunned down by the police for no reason, which is what many on the left, including Black Lives Matter, will do.

Unless the gov't has special "shoot on sight" 'wanted' status, it does not matter who the person is being murdered or what their criminal record is.


The logic in attacking Sterling's character isn't that far removed from the logic of the serial rapist officer who would prey on women junkies who had prior arrests or outstanding warrants.

If there isn't a 'shoot on sight' order out on somebody, a judge and jury get to decide whether the death penalty is applicable.

I don't agree at all with your comparison. None of the cops that responded here are predators or killers stalking blacks to shoot. His character is well documented, he's a troublemaker. Nobody has said that in itself resulted in him getting shot. It does however suggest, along with carrying an illegal weapon, that he played a part in his own demise through his own character and resisting arrest.
A jury will ultimately decide where the guilt lies. Because he is black shouldn't play a part or be strike one against the cop. Had he been a white piece of trash, chances are the justice system wouldn't even come into play. Just another dead thug taken off the street.

None of that matters. If Sterling's rap sheet was three times as long it would not be justification for shooting him.

Of course it matters. He was reported as brandishing and threatening with a gun. That's part of the story of what happened. Previous dealings matter if it gives them a sense of the danger of the situation they're entering. His rap sheet shows what the dead man was capable of when alive. It matters if this man inspired fear in the police who given the task of dealing with him and protecting another person. Off course it matters. It either gives or doesn't give circumstantial evidence of the testimony of the police.
