Hi - I am the owner of a 3 yr old filly Moonshine Cate who is the 1/2 sister of our Miss Matzoball - a stakes winner.

Moonshine had her only race at the end of last summer and came in 4th on short turf. We have her 8 1/2 months to strengthen her ankle and grow up. She is now about to have her 2nd race - 7 furlongs on the turf on this Sunday in the 9th at Belmont

They didn't use this race on Saturday as there were only 5 entered. So they wrote a special and now there are 10 entered. If it goes off the grass - we will scratch her

Franco is the jockey and Roy Lehrman is both her trainer and owns the farm in Ocala where our horses spend 1/2 a year

So, this is the start of the season. We want her to be actives this summer and hopefully at Saratoga which is where we lives. Her sister grew into her form in her 3rd and 4th year

As always, we hope for a healthy race for her and the jockey. And let her learn from the experience.

She will travel on the Belmont truck from Saratoga on Saturday with her groom.

Go Moonshine Cate!!!

All the best to you and Moonshine Cate on Sunday?

No more Matzoh names? Can always tell who the dam and owner are.

What is the origin of Moonshine Cate?

ah --- this one had a different family link...

grandmother-in-law ran moonshine from new jersey when she was 20.

and her name was Cate

So, the filly was born on her birthday and we named her MoonShine Cate

The next sister (yearling) is Citizen Matzo - from Proud Citizen - and we may sell her in the Florida sale later this summer.

The weanling is Matzo Bella - from Gio Ponte

And, Miss Matzo, the mare is now pregnant by Lookin at Lucky
