8th #Mountaineer: Clm7500, 5.5F purse $10,400
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Field of Five, all with a puncher's chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Bear Infiniti (9/2ML)- 4YO steps up into open company, looks for Three-
Peat. Should get stalking trip from rail. Needs Beyer boost, but has upside.
2) Northern Merit (8/5ML fave)- 2016 #WinMachine of Helms, Clouston,
& Parker. 5YO chases Talent Man early,& gets 1st run on other three foes.
3) Silent Scream (4/1ML)- 3 works & key class drop for 5YO after being no
match for Merit in January. Scratched May 16th for this spot.#CanUHearIt?
4) Cardiac Rehab (3/1ML)- 8YO returns off 185-day layoff w/ONE 3F work
fifty days ago. Bracho sticks w/SS, but Babaran solid backup.#NeedsOne?
5) Talent Man (7/2ML)- 4YO looks loose on lead stretching back out &
stepping up in class. ML price juicy if speed holding early in card.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: ML Fave likely overbet due to white-hot connections,
& Parker may have no choice but use Merit early to keep Talent Man
honest early. Bear Linfini & Silent Scream figure in 2nd tier early, with
returning Rehab taking up rear. In Pick-5, i'm taking a stand & singling
Silent Scream, hoping the #CoxCommando is ready to fire off layoff.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & hope to see you at Night School!

9th Mountaineer: F&M Clm5000N1Y - purse $6,300
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillies & Mares, 3YO+Up, non-winners of a race in 12 months (6/21/15)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Welcome to "The Bottom", the lowest time-restricted
condition Mountaineer writes. (FYI, Always look out for horses dropping to
this level for the first time, regardless of form entering.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Jazz Baby (20/1ML)- Turf-2-Dirt, Route-2-Sprint, but still a
NO JAZZ ZONE! 8YO(!) is N2L eligible,& would be a Legendary Upset.
2) Bye Bye Hollywood (Even-Money ML fave)- 9YO was well-
spotted off 6-month layoff, but run down by horse who repeated last night
going a Mile, stepping up in class. Horse-2-Beat, but she has 9 Wins with
18 Place & 9 show finishes in 60 starts. #WillingToSettleForMinorAwards?
3) Starship Streaker (7/5ML)- "The other" contender, toss last when
she broke poorly, can make lead w/alert break. Trainer having career
year, but 8YO didn't get 17 months off between Dec.'14 & May.'16 for
a vacation.
4) Simply Secret (15/1ML)- Tough to endorse 7YO off 2016 form. Best
effort in 2015 came from off-the-pace @5.5F.#ChangeInTacticsTonight?
5) Small Town Flirt (8/1ML)- Fourth rider in as many 2016 starts,
deep closer best keyed under in Tri/Super/SH5 spots.
6) Zee's Cure (15/1ML)- Zee showed Zip in 2015, but NADA this year.
The 7YO would need a complete form reversal.
7) Forever Golden (20/1ML)- 5YO mare is N3L eligible, & has ZERO
early lick. Longshot Lovers may point to the fact FG has 2 thirds locally.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, &
quacks like a duck... Make PEKING DUCK! No Value, but 2/3 should
cash out last leg of any horizontal bets.
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & hope to see you at Night School!
