That sire has made his mark around those parts, I think you could say. Probably the single most influential aspect of Barry Abrams long career. That sire has made him a pretty little penny.

When Unusual Heat was just starting out at stud you could catch some nice prices on his progeny. The last one I remember playing won by like 14L I think it was at HOL. .......he went straight to the front and never looked back. His progeny could get it done on all kinds of turf too. Front runners/closers it didn't matter.

I really miss SoCal from about 2001-2006 it was great

Golden Balls and Tribal Rules sired 2 each in that race also. 11 of 14 horses from 3 sires.

Here's the the thing about Unusual Heat. He's got to be the greatest claim ever. I know everyone always says Lava Man. But here's the deal. Unusual Heat was a claim from Mandella by Barry Adams for either $50K or $65K. I believe he only raced a couple times for Abrams and won at least once.

But they've been standing him for at least ten years. The last couple at $20K. He makes them at least a million maybe two million a year. The might end up standing him for over 20 years. So revenue wise he has be the highest producing claim of all time.
