Anyone here much of a a blackjack player?

Played last night at an Indian Casino, and I was amazed to find most favorable rules I've seen. But they had one rule I don't think I'd ever seen before, and was wondering if anyone here knows what % edge it represents, the rule is any player 21 is a winner, no push. Any sharps out there know the answer? Looked online but couldn't find it.

Looking at the other rules only, house edge is about 0.08%.

well , it 4 chance in 52 you have an ace, is 12 chances in 51 (minus the ace) you have a 10, so its 1.8% you have a black jack. Its the same odds the dealer has one. 1.8 time 1.8 = ~ 0.0003 so I would say the dealer giving away ties is giving away about .00003 of his edge..

souldnt that be 16 chances to get a 10? 4 tens, 4 jacks, 4 queens, and 4 kings. dont konw how it would change the odds though. obviously in your favor, but i dont know by how much

yes..the only point I was trying to make, too quickly, was that they are doing the custormer a minisqule favor for a ton of advertising

not really insignificant, even if it is .03%, that takes the house edge to 0.05%. Thanks Larry. I don't count cards, but maybe I should practive up, not hard to count into a profit overcoming 0.05%, that's nothing.

If you believe that, I have some land in Florida, cheap!

two things, Larry I just went back and reread your post, realize you misunderstood my question, it is ANY 21, not blackjack. Blackjack always pays off. 21's come up a whole lot more often than blackjack.

CJ, it's not rocket science. The biggest thing against doing it is it's just not that much fun. I hope you do realize that there are people beating blackjack everyday. It is not hard to make a profit fighting a <0.05% average edge...

chicken,

Of course I realize it. But, to make any real money, you need a BIG bankroll. With a big bankroll and to make money, you better be one darn good actor. Paper tests are one thing, doing it in a casino with Big Brother watching is quite another. If you think you can pull it off, more power to you!

agreed.

Amazing to me, I sat their for awhile playing the other night, I was the only one at the table not changing my bet size. The Asian guy on my right was varying every hand...5.00..50.00....10.00...I know he wasn't counting, he was also betting heavy on the gimmick side bets....but it occured to me, so many people that play blackjack vary their bet size trying to get lucky, thereby losing way more money, and making it easier for the real card counters out there to hide amongst them.....but like i said, the biggest drawback to blackjack is how damn boring it is. You start to feel like a machine after awhile. I don't think i could handle more than about 20 hours a week.

I turned a tax return of about 2,000 into 15,000 in about one year. Not by counting cards, but by reading the card clumps as the cards were played. I know a lot of BJ purist would scoff at this approach, but it worked for me.

I absolutely agree with CJ, the number one lesson that I did learn was that you need the bankroll to sustain the bad streaks. No matter what method you use.

Were they dealing out of a shoe or with a single deck?

if a shoe, how many decks?

JM -- 4 decks, manual shuffle, I guessed the penetration at about 85%.

Looking at the other rules only, house edge is about 0.08%. we have similar rules here, but where the house edge is the tourney style of play.6 to 8 players pony up 11 bucks apiece.winner is the player with the most chips after 10 hands.Winner gets 60 bucks.so house gets at least a 10% cut of the money won.
