Our horse Miss Matzoball runs on Sat at Pimlico in the 8 th race The Very One

While there are some tough horses - Lady Shipman and Ezaggerated - our jockey and trainer feel she is ripe for the race

Interesting to see what happens if the rains come!!!

Good luck, this will be a good and tough race. You just may need the rain. The #12 looks like a good one but, has never raced in the rain.

I noticed she did well in the slop and yielding turf in the past.

Was that Bel 9/30/15 race taken off the turf?

I thought she did well last out but was in a crowd where she usually makes her move which probably hurt her style.

I thought it would be interesting to share the details of the conversations and considerations that our trainer (Roy) and ourselves went through as we decided if we would run in today's race:

- Nomination was a no brainier - as we could make the enter decision later on?
- Once we saw the nomination list - it was clear we COULD get in - based in the total Turf wins Miss Matzoball had.
- This was the only turf short run Stakes for Fillies/Mares in this time frame - and the horse seemed ready to run again.
- But - we could turn to a mile Stakes in Belmont next week - but that was longer
- When we found out that Lady S was in the race - that was discouraging. And we would also run against horse that just beat is in KY last month. But, Stakes will always have other great horses. It is a $100K purse
- Then the weather predictions said RAIN possible. That would probably be good for Miss M - as she seems to do OK in the mud
- So, the conversation turns to dialogues with our Jockey's (Javiar) manager - who leaned towards the run
- And the #1 post was not perfect - but Lady S was in #12
- Personally - as owners we made it clear that the fun and also chaos of running on Preakness day was not to influence the final decision. We always confer and then defer to the choice of the trainer.
- So, on Thursday morning we made our trip plans and are now awake early in Baltimore ready for a wet day at the track

As always, our desire is that the horse and jockey have a safe and healthy race.

Miss Matzoball is getting up at the track after her truck trip yesterday from SARATOGA.

As we get ready to head to the Paddock for the 8th - here are a few updates from the track

The turf is described by the jockeys as good and a bit soft. Not a lot of sound pounding as they ran.
The track is buzzing....
The dirt track looks not great... At this moment - and might be different after prep

We are looking forward --- and the jockey is going to head for the lead sooner

It was a fun day

Miss Matzoball was in a tough field and got to 4th with a good run

Lady Shipman is quite a champion and we are glad that we were in the money. It is always nice to go home w a $6,000 check and our horse Natural Order came in second in Mommouth this afternoon. Plus the honor of racing today!

Onward to Stakes in NY and more races.
