At least yesterday's Astoria trial had a full field.
And shouldn't there be an allowance race in the series, for horses who have already won a race; say, one of those 3-furlong races at Tampa Bay Downs, etc.?
Also, what are the rules for the trials? Who qualifies for the Tremont/Astoria - the winners? The first three finishers?
And only a 50% win purse? The Timely Writer Stakes (Gulfstream) also has a 50% win purse for some reason.
