Lebron vs MJ

I came to a conclusion last night and I'm sticking by it, Lebron is better than MJ and it's not as close as people think.

There's a lot to think about here. To place MJ ahead is really not digging deep into circumstance, place in time, teammates, ownership groups, head coaches that each star has played for, etc. Lebron was winning finals games with Delly as the 2nd best player on the team, Lebron is in the finals EVERY YEAR no matter who his teammates are, he's played for coaches not 1/10th as good as Phil Jackson.

I could write a novel on why Lebron is better, but I'll leave the novels up to you guys. Don't be offended that your hero MJ is not as good, it is what it is folks.

In that chart you linked to, it shows that Lebron played 13 seasons through age 30, while MJ had only played nine.

As you persumably saw, MJ blows away Lebron in points/game (32.3 compared to 27.3), blocks per game (1.025 vs. 0.79), and steals per game (2.72 vs. 1.69). Not to mention the MVP edge (5 MVPs vs. 4), scoring titles (10 vs. 1), and rings (6 vs. 2).

You could make an argument that Lebron will have a better resume than MJ when it's all said and done, but it's a lot closer than you think, SRU.

But the 4 extra years Lebron plays matter in his greatness you know the old saying the best ability is availability.

Saying a player 'woulda' done this or that if he played longer is just guesswork you can't give a guy credit for what he might have done.

In his prime years, he averaged almost 20 points per game, was selected to the Dream Team twice and the NBA All-Defensive team eight straight seasons. Jordan didn't win any championship rings until Pippen really came into his own. Plus I watched the guy play; he was just an average shooter but excelled at most other things.

He couldn't carry a top team offensively because he wasn't a good enough shooter but he was still a guy who could switch between point guard and small forward, not exactly a easy thing to pull off, and he was very good at getting to the basket.

19-20 points is not chicken feed and when you can switch between offensive ball distributor and small forward, and you're an incredibly versatile and adept defender... you're not just a very good player, you're a great player.

Also, he wasn't just there for two or three years. He was there every year, played every playoff game in those six championship runs. He was Robin, not Batman but he was as good of a Robin as I've seen.

Re: Pippen, that year Jordan "retired", he got the Bulls to the Eastern finals. That was the year of the controversial Hue Hollins foul call on Pippen, and when Pippen didn't want to go back into the game to take a final shot.

Portland didn't regress like everyone anticipated when Aldridge left. Maybe we found out a little bit about him.

He had two great games against the Thunder then very little. The Thunder basically dared the Spurs to keep going to him rather than scrambling all over the place and it worked.
