What up guys wondering who is making the trip east to baltimore this year for preakess weekend?!

In my years being around racing black eyed Susan day is Prob one of the best times I've had going to the track and I got crushed betting and still had a blast, phantom on tour, proximity and tannor12oz have been spotted there the last 2 years

Since March 30 I've been dealing with a cancer diagnosis of stage 1b or 2a melanoma really never thought this thing was this complex so when you see me Gonna have a nasty gash on my face 👎👎👎 but I refuse to let this beat me down mentally and the surgeons did say that it's 85 percent I got there in time before it go to the lymph nodes but they gotta do another biopsy to be sure

Really looking forward to seeing some members here in 2 weeks and plan on booking a win for once😂😂😂 was at pimlico today and it looks nice as ever painting the clubhouse outside and turf looks awesome

I do have a new number 443-221-1121

Hwy, good luck with your treatments, hopefully everything turns out fine.

As for the Preakness, a bunch of us use to go down & tailgate in the infield. We don't go down anymore since all the new rules are in place. The infield use to get crazy, but not anymore. Its still probably a great time, we just don't do it anymore.

Very sorry to hear of your recent melanoma diagnosis.....after reading your post I no longer cared to continue to read anything more about horses and instead went searching on google for a hopefully good and informative site regarding Melanoma that might be helpful to you..

After weeding through a few this one appears to be helpful but I do not know anything about them or how reliable they may or may not be

Best of everything to you and chin up always !

I'm going to be saying prayers for a good outcome, Whizz. I'm good at prayers, I've had to say a whole, whole lot of those lately! My son and I just got home, Saturday, from Duke, two hours before the Derby telecast. I thought we were gonna have to watch the Derby from his hospital room...but his surgeon released us. :jump:

Don't you worry one minute about any gash. I'd bet my house and the land it's sitting on, you're still good lookin'!! I know you've got the charm and the humor intact. Blackeyed Susan Day wouldn't be the same without you. <3

Hi tom thanks for the kind words.....didn't really realize how tricky melanoma can be if not caught early before it spirals out of control in my case i hate saying it but percentage wise looks like I'm 80 percent to not have has this spread to my lymph node which I will find out in after the surgury

Too be specific when you look up melanoma mine has a depth of .83MM non ulcerated with no regression (all good signs) with melanoma is all about depth of lesion and if it's ulcerated or not.....I went to a guy last year said "it was ok" and when I went back in March doctor immediately said melanoma and if biospy comes back it's deep it's a severe situation

That was a thursday that night was the worst of my life and the whole weekend I was a ghost thinking my life was over after googling melanoma all weekned I felt I was finished.......BUT when I got home a 10am momday morning from work and no "missed calls" I figured it can't be that bad then cuz doctor said "they may know by tommorw"....

8 days later im in Atlantic city getting on with life and get off golf course had phone In car sure enough "missed call" the petrified feeling I had when I called dr back was something I can't describe, when he called me back 30 min later he gave me the diagnoses "as I suspected melanoma was positive with a depth of .83mm" I asked the doctor if it could have been worse he said could have been a lot worse

Now it was on to the next stage the surgical phase.....I walked into the oncologist and I never didn't want to be someplace as bad as I didn't want to be here, out in the main section waiting to get called in i just kept looking down didn't wanna see anybody around me...this was the point I realized this was a mental challange maybe moreso then a physical one....people waiting for chemo family's with people it was hard to take in

I get called in and my surgeon come in one of best in region dr Armando sardi he comes rolling in with the smile gives me a full skin check said other then the spot it all looked good we went in office and he gave me the breakdown of what the surgury was Gonna be and the odds of getting a good outcome and it was 80-90 percent that this didn't get to the lymphodes amd maybe a 10-15 percent it did (thought I've never seen a 10/1 win      )

had a pre operative conference last week and we were talking and the doctor asked me if I have been telling people of this problem I was going through and I said other then my boss and father and a few other people I didn't say a word as I really didn't want people to know and worry about me, it was more important to me to tell people after word that over last 2 months I had this and acted like nothing was wrong with me but that's when the doctor said this

"Did you ever think maybe if you told people you may open their eyes and save thier life" I said you know what that makes all the sense in the world"

The only reason I bring this up here is to tell people to make that 20 minute appointment and get your body checked out, there is no downside things on your back or someplace you can't see can be disaster getting this early the survival rate of 10 years is like 95 percent and that's pretty safe

so I can't give anybody any winners on this forum but I can tell you guys to make an appointment with your dermotologist and get ahead of the game!!!!!!!

But with that said lets get back to picking some winners👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks for sharing and hopefully someone else can share theirs which will help you. I think it's good to have someone to confide in because it seems we're all facing the unknown when it happens to us.

I've noticed a number of us have health concerns which I guess is part of life. Fortunately, medical science has come a long way in the last few decades. And hopefully, it will improve even faster.

If you are 20 something the old infield experience was great. Early 90s I pulled 3 or4 different hot chicks. If you were over 40 back then, it probably wasn't the place to be. Now if you're over 40 It's a much better place but not quite as much fun if you're 22. The young kids at work thought it was just ok last year but an older guy and his wife quite enjoyed it.

Exactly! The infield was so much fun 15 years ago. Even when Funny Cide ran in 2003, we had a blast in the rain. Its more laid back now.

Just an update on my condition

Had surgury sked for 830 yesterday father and gf came down to take me I got injected with the radioactive tracer to see where the Cancer would drain if went to lymph node that was done by 1020

Then it was pre op time at 1130 with a high noon time for surgury well that didn't happen....they put another surgery ahead of me and finally at 4:30 I was summons to the OR.....

They line me up for the Anastesia (sp) remeber talking to the guy about card counting next thing I know I was up in recovery room clueless at 6:02pm with a drilling headache they gave me a pill I was loaded wheeled out to my fathers car in valet at 7pm sharp as every passing second felt better

father and gf told me face didn't look bad....I still at that point didn't look, till about 11pm I looked and wanted to vomit lololololol......but I guess it will fade as time goes on

Before the surgery asked dr what he predicted and he said point black "I think lymphnode will be negative" pretty encouraging words to hear I guess

My follow up is next friday (black eye Susan day) so that was unfortunate and maybe I'm not a lock to be at the track as early as I would like but I may not have stitches when I do get there lololol

Just wanted to say thanks for all the support and messages I got from you guys really meant a lot!!!!!!!!!

Heading up to see my gf in Connecticut tonight so to cut drive in half I'll be at meadowlands or Yonkers tonight if anybody here will be there....staying home resting like I was i told to do isn't Gonna happen

Latest breakthrough in curing cancer is
immunotherapy rather than chemotherapy.

Patient's blood is cycled thru kidney dialysis
machine where patient's own immune cells are
"trained" to battle cancer properly. No side
effects AFAIK, except short-term fever at start.

FWIW, ask doc about it, IMO...

Thanks PA.....means a lot and the texts and pms people have sent were all so generous and caring but to let everybody know this isn't weighing me down just want people to be aware of melanoma as it can strike anywhere any time

I ran into track collector Saturday night, one of hardest things I ever did in my life was walk out in public with my face all taped up and bandaged up, but this fear quickly went out window when I fired in 60 to win on a 4/5 and got beat looking for the ice cream money    after then I really couldn't care less what anybody there thought

In a little bit I'll be taking off these sterile strips put on a fresh layer of strips and I'll be ready for night of cocktails with CJ and curtis on the bay👍👍 and hopefully some other shippers from out of state!!

on the positive side with your bandages and such anyone who has any interest of meeting you from the board should have no trouble spotting you. I'm going to do my best to not get killed on the angled slippery concrete on the 1st level.of the grandstand. If I was pimlico I would simply setup at triage there cuz your gonna have people wiping out all day

That incline is brutal and looks like it's even more steep then it was last year if it's slippery it's a accident waiting to happen

black eyed Susan day continues to deliver year after year.....anybody on this board who has never attended a BES really needs to put this on thier things to do list its just a great time win or lose

Saw dave (phantom on tour) and his family for the 3rd year in a row on the apron at old hilltop where cocktails were flying early and often I had my first drink in I don't know how long

Never seen tanner12oz as I was having problems sending pms on my phone apparently pimlico set the record for attandance today for black eyed Susan day however walking out maybe a pipe burst in the clubhouse parking lot but all in all pimlico did a great job

Going forward lets all keep phantom on tour in our thoughts and prayers......he is Gonna be battling something similar to what I just dealt with and when he beats it I can't wait to hear the stories, and make no mistake he will beat it👍👍👍👍👍

For the 3rd year in a row black eyed Susan day delivered!!!!!
