I was looking at Derbywars and see where they have a 7 player contest where you enter for $3 and winner gets $12 and runner up gets $3. Thats a $6 take on $21. Are we talking about a 28.5% take here? That seems like a losing prop unless you are the worlds best handicapper. Correct me if I am wrong here.

I'm looking now and can't find one with those conditions. But, here is a sample of low cost tourneys (<$10) and small field tourneys (<= 7):

Entry $29 for 7 = 203, Return 175 --- 13.79%
Entry $95 for 6 = 570, Return 500 --- 12.28%
Entry $9 for 13 = 117, Return 100 --- 14.53%
Entry $4 for 29 = 116, Return 100 --- 13.79%

Looking back over yesterday's completed tournaments, the only ones I saw with a $3 entry fee had 6 contestants, which would cut the DW take to $3 on $18.

The one I was looking at, Evd had one with 7 contestants, winner got 12 and runner up got 3. Maybe the bigger pots have a lower take. Of course, when they let one go without a full field of contestants the take is lower or 0. Keep in mind when you win the $12 on a $3 game, $3 of it is your own money, so you are laying 3 to win 9.

It's not a 28 pct take because sometimes you too will get the 3 bucks. The players receive the 3 bucks not DW so that 3 bucks isn't part of the 'take'

You are right. I was looking at the fact that I won and only netted $9 on a $3 investment (with 7 players). That seems like a hard way to go.

My question would be why not pick another tournament..some tracks have high takeout some have lower takeout...you choose same as the tournament
you choose...stop to figure it out and make a decision --buyer beware..LOL

36 paid entries at $25 a pop and 10 free qualifiers.

Field of 46 total...ONLY EIGHT SPOTS LEFT at this very moment.

So, 36x$25 = $900
And they are paying back $1,000 in purse money.

Negative takeout rate...gotta love it, no?
