What pen and color of ink do you use to mark up your pp's?
I have used Parker pens since the 70's, but am not happy with their performance lately (skipping and bleeding).

I know, the last 3 words sounds like the horses I bet

I have changed to Uni-Ball Jetstream and replace the fine point with bold point blue ink refills.

Just curious, maybe someone has a better choice.

I've been using a highlighter lately....I start at the beginning of the form and quickly look at 2 columns of each horse.....what I highlight are 2 vertical columns...the Beyer column and the finish position column.... If the horse shows four or more strong Beyers in a row.....If a horse show nothing but 1sts, 2nds, and 3rds up and down that's what I look for first...then I go back thru and look for 12 second works recent... and then 3rd start off layoffs, then last out winners and last out highest beyer....Then Javier, Jose, Irad, Jaramillo, and other jocks I like with decent odds, then top trainers with decent odds, etc. Then improving Beyers, and Keenland sale horses, and horses they paid big bucks for, etc

No handicapping lessons please, just good ink.
Don't like highlighters.

I thought I was the only one picky about pens :D

Currently use Pilot Acroball Retractable Hybrid Gel Red Pen with a Medium Point.

Only problem is I've chewed up the caps making it harder to retract and haven't been able to find them in the store last couple times I've checked

Not picky at all......I'll use anything. When I go to the track I will sometimes buy a "lucky pencil" from the girl selling PP's. But if I have a pen in my pocket that's the ticket. Hell, last week I was at Turning Stone and I used the wax crayon they give you for Keno. Not picky at all, plus I colored the kids menu at Emeralds........

Pilot G-2 blue fine .07.

Instead of multi-colors, I designate good with circle; bad with x; diagonal forward slash for toss out; underline for point to consider; vertical line to show surface run is different than current race condition; left parenthesis to highlight significant key race.

in my prime i preferred a green or blue paper mate flair.

Some of my happiest recollections of racing are from back in the day when I did lots of work with a red Flair pen and a calculator.

I use different colors for different things....dark blue for preliminary, green for information from Formulator, light blue for pedigree info, red for replay work, and purple for final thoughts. I also use some of those colors for Timeform info.

It makes the information easier to identify, especially on air.

I use the Bic blue and reds for running lines but the best pen in general IMO without being streaky is the Pilot V5 extra fine in blue, green, and red.

Frankie when we first met we shared a laugh because we both had nearly the same arsenal of pens! LOL! Now 5 years later we have not just similar but exact :D

Pilot G-2 blue fine .07.

Use those and also have the Pilot G-2 extra fine 05's in assorted colors.

And like Green 80, I rotate colors only when I'm looking for a change in luck.

Man, that was a fun day. We talked about pens and pedigrees all day... :)

I'm still pissed that we didn't play an exacta with our 2 longshots in the Manhattan... :bang:

I hit the one turf race big then got on cruise control and went into social mode. Looking back I missed 3 big odds that day including the winner and exacta on the Manhattan! Arrggghhh!

Thanks everybody, going to try some of your choices.

BTW here's a choice for the last day of the meet, last race (10th) at Keeneland.

I'd be fearful of the pen going through the paper.
