The racing season at MVRC is starting to wind down. Closing day is next Saturday. There are 2 nice 75K Stakes on today's card. Race 6 is the Howard B Noonan for 3 year old Ohio Breds and Race 7 The Austintown Filly Sprint for 3 year old fillies.

Race 6: #8 Riding in the Wind. He's never lost an Ohio Bred race or at MVR going 3 for 3. He has the home field advantage over many shippers. The MVR strip has proven tricky for handicappers and horses that have never run here.
#11 School Board Prez. Connections decide to take on the boys instead of trying open company in the A-Town Sprint. She is the reigning 2 year old filly Ohio Bred Horse of the Year. She was 3 for 4 in 2015 including winning 3 Ohio Bred Stakes. She broke her maiden in the Miss Ohio Stakes beating 11 others in her career debut. Jose Valdivia a very competent journeyman is listed to ride.
#1 Bucket Beat. He put up a big fig in the mud when breaking his maiden versus open company in 2016 debut April 4th. The 2nd place horse Major Drama runs in race 5 today. Watch that one and decide if this 20-1 ML runner might be worth a few bucks.

Race 7: #10 Triple Chelsea. Capable Tampa connections Granitz/Feliciano team up with this lightly raced filly. She won at 25-1 in Churchill debut vs 50K maidens. She was dismissed again by bettors on 2-21 at 11-1 winning a OptCl 75K race at Tampa when getting 1st Lasix. Today's ML is 8-1.
#3 Awesome Dame. Another 8-1 ML looks live if you throw out her last 2 races, a mile on the Inner Dirt at Aqueduct where she finished 3rd of 4 and the 1-26 route at Ocala on the synthetic surface. She ran 2nd 3 times in maiden races at Belmont and Saratoga in 2015. The key race being August 2nd where she ran 2nd to Rachel's Valentina. You all know who she is. Only finished 2nd to the fastest 2 year old of last year and fastest 3 year old of this year so far, Songbird!
#8 Lovable Lyss. Back sprinting and working well after fading in the Silver Bullet Day and Rachel Alexandra at Fairgrounds. Valdivia is named on her.

Good Luck and hope to be back soon. If not, hope to see you again in October as Mahoning Valley Race Course kicks off the Fall Meet with the Best of Ohio Stakes races.

i don't like BUCKET BULLET in this stake race because i know they tried to enter for the allowance race and the race didn't go. there are other decent Ohio Breds in this race too.
