Asked how to do this today....

First, select the URL of the video you want to embed.
You want the part after the = sign

And do you put that in the 1st field or the 2nd?

Next, select the You Tube icon and enter your text for the video, then hit OK, then add the URL you selected.....

This is all my fault...still using ancient version of their forum software...I'm sure it's much easier nowadays... :bang:

I've tried several times but all I get is a blank screen with no video and when I click on the Name ( vZkb7xJUmOQ) it tells me that the video doesn't exist. Below is what I imputed on the last effort.

When I want to attach something such as a You Tube video or any link, I go to that page and then make a copy of the complete url that's in the address line of my browser.

I then go to my post on here and paste the url. Cut and paste.

It shows up like this:

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/jan/25/cokie-roberts/have-democrats-lost-900-seats-state-legislatures-o/

Thanks Tom. I've always wondered myself how to embed it.

When you say "Your text here" is it "Next, select the You Tube icon and enter your text for the video, then hit OK, then add the URL you selected....." as in post 3?

I think I know where to insert the portion after the = sign.

I've done that but that is just posting a link, which works I guess. The cool people (not me) can have the video right in their reply. I'll try later.

YT="Smile"]Laugh[/YT

Where it says Smile, Type in the name of your video.

Where it says Laugh, Paste the video code like Tom said above.

Then put [ at the beginning before the YT and ] at the end after the YT and your video should work.

Me too. In fact, I was going to post the Beulah video earlier this week before GCFan did, but couldn't figure it out.

Again, thanks Tom but how did you guys figure it out?

Is it explained somewhere on this site?

I know SRU has been embedding YouTube videos for years and can't believe he's just smarter than ........ (I just can't say it).

There's another type of post being made where I'm curious how to do. People have the ability of showing only one specific prior post versus linking the thread and noting the referenced post was post # or whatever. You're only able to view that one post.

I sometimes forget, but usually just hit reply to a post with a video embedded. Copy and paste that on my posting and change the youtube code to the video I want.

And do you put that in the 1st field or the 2nd?

The 2nd, just cancel the first box that comes up.

The first box that comes up type words in there like 'breeders cup video' or a description of your video that put the URL in the 2nd box that way you won't have the URL numbers at the top of your vid.
