Home of the biggest fields.

Let's see if we get any long shots the first weekend.

Race 2 had a 10-1 win, Race 3 had a13-1 win. I define a Longshot as 10-1 or more, so EVD had 2 tonight.

Was a bit chalky tonight, but I am sure the bombs will fall by the end of the first weekend :jump: :)

Unless you are a longshot specialist (a good one), my suggestions are, for the first month or so of the meet, in the win pool: pass all MD7500, Md SP WT, "WF" surfaces. In my testing they are all flat bet net losses. I will also avoid bets that are likely to drop below even money after the horses enter the gate (want 1/1 or higher final odds).

find my big payouts at the Pig Penn.

MSW the other night. Sloppy track.

1st time starter with the best mud rating by far in the field.

Additionally, the dam was MSP.

$54.00 wire-to-wire while the rubes were betting money on a trainer who is 1-58 since last October. Filly finished strong, though.

Hard to NOT play this track.

10 races today. 6 races that paid $15 or more for the winner. Average win payout was $17.82.

Take away the first 2 races of smaller fields, and the average win payout is $20.62.

Queue Neil Diamond and "Sweet Evangeline"

Not too bad for the 1st week. I find the first week is like this a lot but as the summer goes in its gets very chalky.

Not too bad for the 1st week. I find the first week is like this a lot but as the summer goes in its gets very chalky.

This is true for many tracks and many meets. The first 2 weeks or so are full of prices, due to the horse, trainer, jockey colonies getting used to the track/surface/barn areas, etc.. And, the bettors get better as time goes on too. They figure out how the track is playing and which of those 3 colonies are performing better than the others. I find that meet after meet my play starts out with huge ROIs and then starts declining steadily because the prices get lower. It's normal.

EvD will turn into a chalk fest soon enough, so get it while you can and then move on.
