It's difficult to understand a 100k show bet on Mohaymen in the Florida Derby...10 horse field, off track, post 9, 3yr olds (most inconsistent).

His 4th place finish didn't inflate show prices much because of Nyquist but that bet is worthy of ridicule.

What may even be a worse bet is some of the 99-1 types who had thousands to show on them with very little shot, at least w the favorite you had a punchers chance to actually cash the ticket.

With the pool so big how do you know there was a single 100k show bet?

Not uncommon when a favorite is taking huge amounts of bridge jumper money in the show pool. If the chalk chokes or breaks a leg like Shared Belief at CT then the show pool pays ridiculously high. This usually doesn't work when you have two monster favorites as it's very rare for both to run up the track.

CJ, I don't know there was a single $100,000 bet...I chose the assumption as convenient and strongly feel all who bet this as a minus pool opportunity were foolish.

Nyquist had $67.5K and Mohaymen had $170.4K of a total of $379.9K of the show pool. The win pool was $750K and $900K of an almost $2M total. Kind of funny as you watch the race, Nyquist was even money, but on entering backstretch turn, he drifts up to 6-5, and not a word is mentioned, by anybody. So how does that work now?

My philosophy is until you're profitable stay a low roller. Once you have a nest egg built up then go for it slowly and hope you can continue to grow your bankroll.

Not much to mention, they still had to draw in the remaining wagers in the pool. Doesnt happen instantly. It can, but they would have to invest in the infrastructure for it to happen. My guess is Mohaymen took alot of late money causing him to drift up.
