Was shocked to read this.... but happy it's his choice not cause of injury.

Good Luck Calvin... But will miss you in May.

You know you're getting old when you can remember watching him as a bug boy. He, IMO, was a good rider from the get go, all guts. The game will miss him, maybe more than I will. One of the good guys!

You could also count on him riding all the way to the wire... an honest effort be it a Grade1 or a low level claimer.

Hardest working jock in the morning I have ever seen, would RUN from barn to barn to work horses early in his career. Always was a yes sir, no sir and it didn't matter if you were a million dollar owner or you worked in a tack room. Only a few left from the bush tracks around Lafayette we would go to on Sundays to run a cheap horse after mass.

I'm surprised he didn't wait a month.......must not have anything that's a live derby prospect. One more shot at glory?

He was a really good jockey, not the best but he tried the hardest. Some of the more talented guys could learn a thing or two from his style. No one ever questioned his effort level, that's for damn sure. A true "gamer".

Happy Trails Bo-rail............You love the game, you carried yourself like you love the game and you were good for this game......congrats to you.....

Maybe he's moving on to Hollywood:

I wish him .. nothing but the best.

This man has not ever known the word FEAR. He would take a horse through any opening, no matter how small, no matter how quickly to close. Calvin got it.

3 Derby wins in 4 years.Kinda says it all.And if you were to pick all time memorable Derby moments, Borel's mad dash on Mine That Bird would be up there.

Phenomenal move, no doubt. Almost unbelievable!
