Nyquist worked on Friday at Santa Anita. Trainer Doug O'Neill had his horse run a two-minute lick from the finish line to the half mile pole, had the rider break off at the half mile pole, asking for a half mile in 49 and a gallop out to the 7/8 pole. The official work went in 1:01.40 for five furlongs. O'Neill described the work as exactly what he wanted and Nyquist looked comfortable all the way around the track. Nyquist came out of the work in perfect shape and back at the barn he looked none the worse for the effort.
