Ramblings aren't always wagers.
Race 1 – Recent speed figs don’t present a logical play against 4/5 morning line #4 JOHANNAH JO.
Race 2 – This is an exciting rematch of local stars #6 SOLAR MAXIMAUS and #7 ENGINE. SOLAR MAXIMUS had the tougher trip of those two last time but there are no guarantees today. #3 AFTER THE BELL becomes a player here on the cutback; if Houghton remains off his mounts today the jockey choice will be interesting.
Race 3 – Robert Gorham holds most of the cards sending double whammy #1 SHADES OF LIGHT and #6 HONEY SMACKS who may have an advantage on the potential sloppy going.
Race 4 - #3 EVENING CONCERTO cut back to snap a long losing streak but could be well prepped for two turns. #2 WELCOME HOME RYAN should welcome the return to conditions; seems reliable at this level but recent track bias plays against stalkers. #8 RIDE IN THE PARK took a tough beat last time for a struggling barn that faces some solid outfits here.
Race 5 – #3 SPARK OF THE YEAR gets preference based on solid efforts in Cleveland last summer following a couple trips over the local surface; layoff is always a concern but work pattern is solid. Ohio stakes placed #9 SILVER BUCKEY hasn’t been seen for a long time either but William Cowans usually brings his stock to the paddock well meant; MVR’s surface welcomes turf runners. Recent runner #6 FIESTY RUBIANO earns a look especially if early runners like today’s going.
Race 6 – Very tricky set of representatives from top local trainers. Playing this race without a toteboard seems silly; might roll the dice with best price of 2-4-5-6-7-8-9 (cut the field from nine to seven . . . sharp handicapping! Help.)
Race 7 – Cutback draws attention to #6 AUTUMN EMBER.
Race 8 – This corner seldom passes on the Ruberto barn that sends #2 SAINT HARBOR back off delightful season debut.
