The grand old 1 and 1/2 mile on turf that is contested about 4 times a year in 'Merica.
We need more of these races, and sadly we get less.
:1: Southern Freedom: Pace presence and nothing more. Could hit bottoms of exotics, but even that is stretching it a bit.
:2: Quick Casablanca: A plodder that will grind out whatever finish he gets. 3rd, 4th, 1st, 10th? Depends upon the rest of the field.
:3: Power Foot: I learned a long time ago that you never want to bet against Gary Stevens in a big race. This horse has some ugly recent form, but....., Gary is on board. A must include for me for a jockey that does his best work in the biggest races at Santa.
:4: Going Somewhere: Brazilian invader with Euro breeding, and can't win. He beats me he beats me, but a huge pass.
:5: Life's Journey: 2 for 21, crap jock, crap trainer, and has never been bet. Add in the huge jump up in class for this entry, and you can't cross it off fast enough.
:6: Energia Fribby: Interesting. I don't think he can win, but he can be an exotics booster that will keep coming late.
:7: Havanna Belle: Has failed at this level before, and after a career best effort, I can't see it.
:8: Highball: Love the switch to the D'Amato barn, and this horse can win. I also love the 12/1 ML. A must play in here WPS, and an exotics must as well.
:9: Generosidade: A well travelled horse. Brazil, Argentina, France, and now America. I'll let him prove me wrong before he even enters an exotics wager.
:10: Gaga A: Huge contender in here. Maybe not a winner, but an exotics must.
:11: Big John B: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPZzqVqERxA
Love me some Beach Boys. This one isn't in form, but can pop and beat this field. Tough call at short odds.
