I know nothing about Linux other than what I have read. I have some older computers laying around that have Winxp and was thinking about trying a version of Linux. I understand Wine can run some windows programs.

Can anyone that uses an operating system based on Linux comment on any handicapping programs they own or have seen work okay using Wine? I know that web based software works okay but I am wondering about stand-alone programs stored on the pc. I like to tinker and am thinking it may be time to get my feet wet.

Thanks in advance for any and all answers.

Jim

I have had users run our software in Wine a few years back. It ran substantially slower, but still ran.
