I've been thinking about the long term benefits of our our play...

I just posted a thread entitled "Down the Hill Dreams" designed specifically to address the 6.5 hillside turf course race at Santa Anita.

It then occurred to me: Why don't we start threads that are meant to last and carryover and not get sidetracked? The idea is to design the thread very carefully so as to address a very specific category to match the broad conditions of the race for each track, For example, a thread for 3 year old colts and geldings sprint dirt Santa Anita.

Then 3 year old colts and geldings dirt route Santa Anita....and so on and so forth. The threads would in effect specialize and we all could become specialists of each thread, ie, each type of race.

What do you think of that idea?

This is meant as constructive criticism:
1) Threads have to flow a little bit like an actual conversation. If someone has to jump in and shut a conversation down just because someone made a joke or someone else mentioned a handicapping factor that doesn't involve downhill turf courses, it kills the flow of the thread.

2) You will have a MUCH better chance of getting a conversation started if you offer some information of your own. For example, your downhill turf course thread directly states "Show me your data for the about 6.5 furlongs on hillside turf course at Santa Anita" You're flat out asking gamblers you are competing with to post their hard-earned information about how the turf course plays without offering them any information of your own first. You then said it's one of your favorite distances, so I'm assuming you have some data/experience of your own to offer. So, you're unlikely to get many replies. No one wants to do your work for you.

Yes, I see what you mean now...hmmm...so true! Wow, I've been learning so many things about myself from PA bloggers! It's really kind of humbling...and of course you are right about this...I'll give this serious thought. And I know what you mean by thread flow...some of the best insights have arrived by way of creative spontaneity in natural dialogue..so point well taken...thank you.

I've found one of the best thread-starters....is to actually, but subtley, challenge the board with your idea, thoughts, method, rant...whatever.
Explain YOUR downhill-turf method, which you happen to think is pretty good--and open up the floor....
