Expect some serious slop!

Race 1 - If #4 ROSES R PERFECT kicks in his back class he'll appreciate #5 SPANISH LEATHER providing a target. I'm guessing that winning routes on the front end, typically tough here, will be even more difficult in the goo. Dangerous #1A (PP10) WILD CARD HILL has scratched.

Race 3 - It would be silly to under estimate gutty #5 WITH GRATITUDE despite the class hike. #4 MOZZAFITO could have a pace advantage at a price.

Race 7 - #11 REV SEVEN could shock 'em late if a hot heat develops among those inside three runners.

What a joke riders the 11. :( I.think 15 wide on the turn and it looks like arouse interferes with him. I don't understand...

Bad ride. If the horse was taking an easier route probably had enough to get up for first.

2 out of 3 is good with me.

Another fine job of handicapping Gib! Not sure why the other posters are complaining that Sarvis didn't win on #11 Rev Seven. He's been fantastic on all types, especially closers. Please check PP's before blaming the jockey. Rev Seven ran to his form at MVR. He typically finishes 4th or 5th in races, including a 4th when Broberg had him for 2 races at Delta. BTW, I needed #7 or #11 to run 2nd for my Tri bets. I watched the replays and have no complaints, as each jock did his best to fire late.

you have to admit the racing in Mehoning has been great this year with the pools getting bigger. but if they only got themselves on the TVG network and their betting sites, the handle would go up to over $2 million a day. the area that surrounds the track are full of gamblers that all want to go to the track and bet on horse races. i have no idea why they built such a small property. i understand the no turf part because they open the wrong months of the year for that.

I believe the Horsemen didn't agree to TVG's terms. The size of the OTB and number of horse stalls was always in the news here before it was even built. Good news is that there is enough property to expand, possibly double the current size of the facility.

I had an interesting thought this summer during my first ever trip to Saratoga which, I believe, is the oldest race track in America. - I had just visited the oldest and newest race tracks in America in the same year. Cool accomplishment, in my opinion, even if Mahoning Valley is in my backyard.

Anyhow, I think that tracks like MVR and Presque Isle are the models for the future. The majestic palaces of the past no longer serve a purpose. Except on big days like the Derby at Churchill they are mostly creepy with lots of dark corners. All the tracks are the same size if you are playing on the internet which is where 97% of the MVR handle was taken in yesterday.

My hope is that Penn National continues to show interest in racing and the loyal live crowd. The facility must be maintained as the newness wears off. The poor site lines from the apron could be negated by putting up a video board for us railbirds. Mostly the always complicated relationship between casino money and purses must be fair enough to allow purses that attract full fields of competitive runners. This second season of racing has been so much more interesting with the big fields showing up.

As for Dean Sarvis*, I agree with Ron that he gave REV SEVEN his best shot at winning Wednesday. Horses taking a lot of mud were stopping so he had to make a quick in or out decision.

*evaluating jock's rides is so extremely subjective and personal that by agreeing with Ron I am NOT DISAGREEING with the guys that thought it was a bum ride. Nobody knows what would have happened if he had chosen a different path.

I don't watch jocks very carefully but Sarvis seems to find the bias as well as any of the local jocks. Unless he goes cold, I'll trust him to find the best path on MVR's ever changing surface. Check it out his ride on SOLAR MAXIMUS at: 2-22-16 Race 4 (http://www.hollywoodmahoningvalley.com/racing/live-racing) It seemed really special live and when did a rider ever make a mistake on a ticket that you cashed?
