Long and tragic story short, one of my neighbors was murdered by her significant other a few months ago. Her daughter has been in charge of selling off most of her estate. She posted to the community facebook page that her mom had some signed horse racing prints if anyone was interested in purchasing them.

They are all very nice and I am not sure what to offer her or what they are worth. She is probably as clueless as I am on their value. Can anyone give me a ball park number?

The Fred Stone prints will be of value. Forego, John Henry. The other artists, not sure? I cannot make out the name. Maybe Christine-----maybe Meredith------on the drawings, etc. Cougar II is nice.

Mr.Stone's artwork is quite well known, as well as his books. I just checked, he still has his website, and too, he has a page on FB. Fred Stone--Equine Artist. He's recently finished a work of American Pharoah.

I would advise her to consult an art gallery and/or an auction house.

There is also another signed black and white one of Secretariat as well. I must have missed it while uploading it. There is also some kind of Secretariat plate set as well she is sending me photos of tomorrow.

As far as galleries go, we are in the Tucson area and there isn't much around. I get the feeling she just wants to get over this chapter of her life and get everything gone. She even mentioned that she didn't want to deal with eBay.

You'll likely see the same prints at eBay - I just did a search and easily found dozens. They range from $8 to several hundred, a few listed for more. You can probably find the exact print and see what it sold for (as compared to asking price).

But like the pieces if you buy them as they'll never be an investment. Stone mass produced his work and sort of made himself into the Thoamas Kincaid of horse racing, but with fewer customers than Kincaid. So buy them for your own enjoyment if you like his work.

My x-wife and I had quite a few Stone prints. I know they aren't worth much because she told me to take them when we split. lol

ROTFLing

I swear, sometime, I think I'm the only good ex-wife. Makes me just feel so special!! There's bound to be more good ones out there. They're just not as many as there are--good ex-husbands--huh, gentlemen!

While we are on the subject, I like Stone's work but my favorite equestrian artist is Celeste Susany, I have a few of her prints, love her work.
