"Paul Kantner, one of the giants of the San Francisco music scene, died Thursday of multiple organ failure. Mr. Kantner, a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, was 74 and had suffered a heart attack this week."
Saw the Airplane from about 20 feet away in about 1967! Awesome!

Wow, haven't heard this. I went to school with his son Gareth in the 6th grade. Another sad day.

JA was the best SF band in the 1960s imho, in longevity the Dead would have that honor, but their first six albums Takrs off through Vplunteets were in equaled.
