Actor Abe Vigoda, who, as Salvatore Tessio, one of the caporegimes for the Corleone crime family in The Godfather, was last seen in 1972 climbing into a car en route to being whacked, and who found time along the way to appear as Detective Sergeant Phil Fish in the sitcom Barney Miller, as well as in a brief eponymous spin-off series of his own (in addition to other film and TV appearances), has died at the age of 94.

I guess all those jokes about thinking he was already dead can finally cease...

I thought Abe was dead in that Godfather Uno movie. No- like already dead, before he hit the screen & subsequently the pavement. Looked like he had 2 feet in the grave, then!

Hung on for a loooooong time, for a Dead Man Walking! :bang:

Liked him.

Hmm? I'll look for him to reincarnate as a "Fish."

Not only that, but he also even made a cameo comeback appearance from the dead (along with Sonny, Carlo, and Fredo) in the flashback dinner scene at the end of The Godfather, Part 2.

That Was One Long Car Ride (Abe Vigoda)

I'd nominate this for best thread title of 2016.

The third actor in that scene, shown briefly sitting in the chair, is Dominic Chianese, better known as Uncle Junior on "The Sopranos".He was playing Johnny Ola.

That ain't no fake, that's real. That's why they call him Superman.

Hey, Freddie, Freddie, where did you find this place?

Johnny Ola told me about this place. He brought me here. I didn't believe him, but seein' is believin', huh?...Old man Roth'd never come here, but old Johnny knows these places like the back of his hand. Now watch him, he's gonna break the cracker with it.

Break a cracker! I want to see him break a brick. He could knock down a building.

IIRC ,this was the scene where Michael realized it was Fredo who betrayed the Corleones
