10 years. I went searching the Internet for it. Retail price is fifty bucks. Couldn't find it anywhere. Secondary market is 400-500!!!

They make older Burbons that sell in the thousands.

Pappy van winkle is near impossible to get...

eagle rare, knob creek, buffalo trace are all solid and a little more mainstream. I drink mainly bottom shelf old crow for the most part

Hard to believe that just putting some gut-rot firewater in a barrel for a few years could lead to selling it as a premier bourbon, for thousands of dollars? Wow.

Although I prefer nitwit juice, I do have some memories involving Cabin Still and Seven Up that make me chuckle. Two of my old drinking buddies from Alabama LOVE Maker's Mark, though I'm not a big fan. One bourbon I can sip is Jack Daniels single barrel - smooth enough for an amateur like myself.

The epitome of STUPID. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Empty-Pappy-Van-Winkle-20-Year-Bottle-Red-Velvet-Bag-And-Hang-Tag-/172068199277?hash=item2810105b6d:g:uTwAAOSwJcZWfxs Z

I got a bottle of Jack Daniel's Sinatra Century, for Christmas. It's the smoothest I've tasted. But I'm no whiskey expert.

Jack Daniels single barrel is good, but a heavier whiskey. If you like a mellow version of Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jack is delicious and very smooth. You have to be careful not to dilute it too much with a lot of ice because it's so mellow.

LOL....plus the E-Bay guy wants $13.50 for shipping! I'd consider giving him $13.50 for a full bottle...if he brought it to my house.....and it better have that velvet bag too!

$13.50 for the bottle? It would run you about $300 for 1.5 ounces of that at a bar, if you were able to find it at a bar.

A few years ago I was at a funeral and the guy who died's son pulled out a bottle of 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 23/yr... I've never been so excited at a funeral luncheon in my life.

My personal go to is Jameson 18 year old. It goes for around $160 a bottle and is extremely smooth for that price point.

Good cheap whiskey story.

A few weeks ago me and Miss ManU were out and about in Philly at one of our favorite spots - The Milkboy on 11th and Walnut. So were drinking for about 3 hours or so and we start shooting the shit with our waitress and she starts to bring us whiskey shots. This is a very laid back hipsterish kind of bar so they allow their bartenders and waitresses to slam shots during their shifts. So after about the 3rd shot of this whiskey we do together. I say something along the lines of I'm a pretty big whiskey fan but I'm having trouble identifying this brand. She starts laughing and says its Heaven Hill. Heaven Hill goes for about $20 a bottle but I'm telling you it tasted like a $150 bottle. So if you're ever in the market for whiskey and don't want to spend much go with Heaven Hill. The 3 of us ended up drinking an entire bottle on top of about 15 beers and I didn't feel like shit the next morning.

I drink J.T.S. Brown bourbon. It's not that I like it. It's that "Fast Eddie" Felson drank it. ;)

Yes, they do.

I buy what's on sale and if a rebate is attatched, all the better. :) I rarely drink any type of hard spirits straight.

The 23YR Family/Special Reserve is the big one. These fools around here put themselves on waiting lists to be called to maybe be able to stand in line for a bottle. On par for getting season tickets for Kentucky Basketball.

Hoofless, JD is Tennessee Whiskey..not Kentucky Bourbon Whisky(;)). But along the same lines, George Dickel White Label, or Gentleman Jack, are both ok in my book. I wouldnt buy any of the them, but if it's all that's there, sure, I'll knock back a shot or two. Makers is an old friend, but is too sweet for me anymore.

Personal favs on the rocks or nice and neat:

1) Woodford Reserve
2) Blanton's
3) Booker's
4) Jim Beam Black..the old recipe. 8 year, 90 or 95 proof(iirc), and was fantastic. EDIT--No longer available in this particular batch.

Bargain bottles for mixing:

1) Old Fitzgerald 86 proof

2) Ancient Age 90. Also, I think it may have been discontinued, but Ancient Ancient Age 10yr, 86 proof, is a tremendously underrated Bourbon. If you stumble across a bottle, snag it. It's enjoyable with a few cubes of ice as well.

3) Evan Williams as noted above, and agreed.

4) Jim Beam 7 Year...never lets me down :)

There are only two types of whisky.

Canadian whisky and bad whiskey.

Crown Royal Reserve with a bit of water is the best there is. A couple of other good Canadians I've found? One much less pricey is Seagrams VO Gold. Smooth, as in very. Also, Canadian Hunter....inexpensive, its been branded, "the poor man's Crown". I tried, and I liked it ok.

As for Crown's ... Maple, Apple, Black, etc? Stop messing with good whisky. The flavor's in the aging.

Mixing colas, juices, and ginger in a glass with fine whisky (Reserve) is disgusting. Silly drinks like Margaritas, Cosmopolitans, etc, the added mixer only gives cheap hangovers. No.

A good friend of mine gifted it to me over xmas. Thing is.. she is a spirits/beer promo model, got an extra as part of her work and does nt like bourbon etc.. at least not yet! Good for me!
