It is frigid in north east Ohio - yesterday's track seemed to play fairly; outside closers may have had an advantage.

Race 2 - Expect the unexpected when Ohio-bred claimers gather: #6 (PP7) R Dirteater returns to sprinting for a tag. Lone speed #3 GLORY TO THREE is the dangerous lone early speed. Usually competitive #8 (PP9) JOHNNY UTAH exits open company at his best distance -

Race 3 - Sharp breaker #10 BEARS GRACE should be very tough to catch if she clears the field early from her wide post in this short dash for the cash -

Race 4 - #8 SPRING HEELED JACK went reluctantly last time after switching course while chasing "much the best" winner. Another veteran maiden runner #5 O'BANNON BOY was trapped inside for a half in the same race; running back to his best effort would get it done -

Race 5 - Claimed by the Sullivan camp when he dropped into conditioned races speedy #6 REAL LUCK is well spotted. #8 BIG FLIRT was closing powerfully last time -

Race 6 - Nasty race to figure out; at least half the field looks "live" to this book: #9 MEDIA DARLING closed OK last time on surface that favored front runners. #6 AWESOME SWIRL broke her maiden in grand style along an unusualy kind rail. TD Houghton returns to #8 TEDDY'S PRAYER who has been working well for Shane Spiess trying to get his house back in order -

Spot Plays for MVRC 1-19-16:

Race 5: #8 Big Flirt. This 10 year old still has the fire in his belly. He's been ITM over half of his 90 career races. He almost mowed them down here last race at the same class level.
#6 Real Luck. Claimed off a win by Sullivan barn. He's hitting at about 40% 1st off the claim. His owners want to win and it sometimes will show on the tote board.
Some double digit horses have a chance for minor awards. #4 Seattle Prospect, #5 Love Who and #10 Raffie's Delight.

Race 6: #11 Savannah Star. Last seen Dec.8th chasing home Dixie Brew.That gal won right back.
#8 Teddy's Prayer. Spiess has brought in some bombers off a layoff recently, including those with little or poor works. This one has a bullet work on Jan 10th.
