Secret files exposing evidence of widespread suspected match-fixing at the top level of world tennis, including at Wimbledon, can be revealed by the BBC and BuzzFeed News.

Over the last decade, 16 players who have ranked in the top 50 have been repeatedly flagged to the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) over suspicions they have thrown matches.

All of the players, including winners of Grand Slam titles, were

This has been going on a long time.
It's just that it must be more widespread now.

I doubt many bookmakers take serious money
on individual matches outside of the major grand slam
tournaments (QFs on up) any more.

These fixing allegations in tennis started to multiply
with the advent of online bookmaking (10-15 years ago).

the Bobby Riggs Billy Jean King match was very suspicious, i knew someone that played golf with him that told me he was a degenerate horse player and sports gambler and he was stuck in pretty good with some wise guys, after the match Riggs was smiling.

Djokovic reportedly turned down close to $200K to throw
matches in smaller tournaments years back.
He completely denies it, and there is no evidence of fixing.

I guess there is a core group of around 16 players,
none of which are top-20 ranked, who repeatedly
feature in the investigations. Top-50, maybe.

I think it was more widespread 10 years ago, not so much now, but I'm sure it happens. I don't see how anyone could bet on matches pitting people one on one for low purse moneys---unless of course you are in on the fix.

Do you feel the same about 2 and 3 horse fields in horse racing? Do you think those races are more likely to have shenanigans than a full field?

I would never play a 2 or 3 horse field, so I can't really say.
