Killultagh Vic and jockey Ruby Walsh pulled off one of the greatest recoveries I've ever seen in a race today at Leopardstown.

To top it off, some savvy punters backed him in-running on Betfair at 999/1 after his huge error at the last fence

The race was equally dramatic for in-running punters and while Blair Perrone matched at 1.01 (1/100), Killultagh Vic was matched for €1,090 at 1000 (999/1), costing the loser/losers a whopping €544,455

Amazing that horse was able to come back and win, in a race called the "Money Back on Fallers"..... :D

What's even more amazing is how fast that in-race wager was made. The odds offered couldn't have been posted for more than a few seconds before you could see the horse was back running again......and he won easy.

The jockey looks bigger than the horse.

Go to attheraces.com and select yesterday's races. You will be able to see the race replay. It was pretty incredible.

lesson learned; don't offer 999-1 UNTIL jock hits ground; otherwise....

just good horsemanship by a leading jock.

The horse in question is an outstanding jumping prospect.

Here is another clip of the video..... guess AtTheRaces had Youtube take the other one taken down for copyright violation, and then they put it up themselves.

Wow. That was really impressive. Both jockey and horse. Great recovery. Thanks for the video.

Top trainer Willie Mullins (the Todd Pletcher of Irish jump racing)
reports Killultagh Vic to be in good order after his heroic exploits.

The jockey looks bigger than the horse.

Jump jockeys seldom ride at less than 140 pounds (at least back in the 1980s)
The most common weight carried would be between 154-168.
Much tougher and sturdier type of horse required.

Looks as if that courageous effort took it's toll on Killultagh Vic.
Suspensory problem - he'll be lucky to run again.
That's a real shame
