Portland Meadows Race 8 - 12/14

Does anyone know the deal with these "Racing Clubs" at Portland Meadows? Today's 8th race had:

Owners:
#3 - Arizona Racing Club 1;
#4 - Pennsylvania Racing Club 8;
#5 - Michigan Race Club 1;
#7 - New York Racing Club 1;
#8 - Oklahoma Racing Club 2

All horses are trained by different people and the state name seems to be where the horse raced last before coming to Portland.

Dunno, but took a look at the track earlier.....was that a river running straight down the center of the stretch? Either way, I passed.

Im guessing this is where fans buy shares of a horse through the track. I know Canterbury and Assiniboia run similar programs.
