One of the toughest beats of the year. Green Bay gets game extended by a bogus face mask call. Then a 60 yard Hail Mary. The Packers lead for only 1 play of the game; the final, untimed down.

Absolutely bogus.

And was Rogers over the line of scrimmage too?

I didn't even look at that but he really got a running start and wound up. I don't think I've ever seen a pass thrown that high. Im gonna have to look for a replay to see if Rodgers was over the line.

Isn't there an incidental face mask call also? Or is every face mask a 15 yarder?

The Lions lost when they fumbled first play after 20-7 score by Packers.
You can't cough up the ball there. After that, it was almost destiny how it unfolded.

...and Rogers let go of the ball around his 36, so he was not over the line of scrimmage. I just PVR'd the play on rewind.

They had that rule, but eliminated it a few years ago. Now its only a 15 yarder.

Thanks.

Sorry, that's a crushing beat.

Three observations on the rewind.

1) great job by O line w blocking, they were right on the edge of holding but did just enough to give AR time.

2) one of the O lineman ALMOST was illegally down field, he starts to head towards the end zone but stops just before the line of scrimmage.

3) #42 on Detroit tanked the play, he was no where near the ball when it landed, he had 2 or 3 seconds from the moment Rodgers threw it till it landed, he was just standing there 10 yards from the catch not making any attempt to get into the fray.

I had Detroit too. A damn shame and more proof that its better to be lucky than good.

Yeah when the camera cut toward the end zone, I was shocked not to see more Lion defenders.

You'll never see a more lackadaisical effort on the part of the defense on a Hail Mary. Either one of two Packers could have caught that ball.

As someone from my posse remarked:

"Losers find a way to lose." How true.

The eedgit who had the bogus Face Mask call, didn't have Clue One that he could have just ran by Rodgers and let any other Lion simply direct him out of bounds.

What was he going to do 70 yards away? Couldn't throw it. :bang:

The fact Caldwell didn't have Calvin Johnson on the field shows the game manager he is. Same Old Lions. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I heard he gambled it all on a goofy lateral play, not a long pass. Nice.

The Lions were too deep in the end zone, the Packers blocked them out, and the trailer, TE Rodgers, who was there to catch any tipped balls, with the Lions so unbelievably out of position was just able to go up and get it. And the Lions worrying about the hook and ladder when the Packers had to go 60 yards is just poor, poor coaching. If you can't get a guy cornered with 6 of your guys between him and the end zone and 60 yards to go, even after a catch of 15 yards and an additional 15 yards gained after the lateral, you need some serious personnel upgrades.

They should have known Aaron's arm strength, he threw all his might with momentum and barely got the ball to the goal line. Phil Simms made a good point about keeping him in the pocket so he can't get a running heave, lions didnt do that well either.

Also...that play never works!
It may have worked in a college game like 30 years ago but not in the NFL.

Adding Indy/Pittsburgh Over 50 1/2

A square play? Betting over on a prime time game is. But I can't bet Pittsburgh under right now. Big Ben red hot, and that secondary has big time problems. No Luck? No problem. Hasslebeck has been very solid for the Colts.

He's been solid but beating Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh is going to be a tough task. I'm on Pittsburgh and think it has the potential to be something like a 36-13 game or something. Not sure if they let it go favorite and over but hopefully we both get the W.

5-1 on week and a Hail Mary away from a 6-0 week.

I should stick with totals. Some wild line moves and big chalk wins yesterday. Getting tough. Can't figure out the game tonight, so I'm passing on it.
