CROSS THE LINE, 3yr old winner of the California Derby, 2nd in the El Camino Derby, ran in the Santa Anita Derby against the likes of the great DORTMUND, the big favorite in the Illinois Derby....all taking place within THIS YEAR......is entered in a the 1st race @ GGF today--a 10K claimer.

I don't know about the breeding part of it....but CTL isn't gelded---shouldn't he be worth much more as a stud? He's a 3yr old, for cryin out loud.

I just don't get this.

Half to Ria Antonia, if I remember correctly. Should be worth something.

I think what probably happened, word got out Cross The Line was up for $10K--someone called Dorf's people and bought him outright. Maybe he called around first, kept getting low-balled....swore if he didn't get a decent offer he would put the horse up in a $10K claimer. Someone blinked when they saw the entries---Dorf wins.

I could be wrong but looked like he never planed to run that horse. He wanted to make sure the race was going to run i believe. Pretty sure they don't card 4 horse races... yet in Cali

Hey Gregg, one year, in Finger Lakes biggest race, the Futurity, the winner of that very race two years previously, was in for $1500 in the double that day!

What was the purse for the Futurity--$5,000?

The only reason that cheap claimer won the big race--all the owners with the "good" Finger Lakes horses...probably withdrew thinking they were outclassed :D

EDIT: by the way---Cross The Line was claimed for 10K yesterday---and finished 2nd in that cheap claimer.

No, he won it two years back - around 100K back then - but was in for 1500 on the same day it was run that year.

LOL....oh I forgot...you live up there near FL. You and bello are the board "faces" of Finger Lakes.
