He missed with Trempolino in the 1987 Breeders' Cup Turf, but he did everything he could to put that horse in a position to win.

A quote from Eddery after leaving home to become an apprentice jockey...

“It was fairly gruesome,” he said. “I was very homesick and had just left my mother’s cooking to go to digs, which were grotty. It was tough but I wanted to be a jockey.

Pebbles in the 1985 turf. One to remember for this gallant rider.

No question one of the great of our time. LEGEND! Will forever remember his ride on Dancing Brave in the Arc which put away any doubt as who should have won the Derby. RIP!

I wonder what it was like accomplishing what he did,The horses he rode and the fame that went with it .Im sure he handled it well as he won several titles.I would have loved to give him a leg up on a horse. My condolences to all involved..

Unfortunately he drank himself into an early grave.
Very sad. He sat on some of the best horses to race in Europe in the last 40 odd years, and was involved in some very memorable performances.
Always came across as cool as a cucumber. But he obviously had his demons, or at least one serious one. Drink
RIP
