I believe its still a 1 pt conversion ...

reminds me of a Bartolo Colon play this year , picked up a bunt and flipped it to first from behind his back

Isn't the only 1 point conversion a kick?

You cant get a 2 pt conversion from a kick

you have to announce/begin the play as a 2 pt conversion...

I don't believe that is correct. I know in high school we often faked the kick and got two points for converting...I was the holder.

Even in the pros, you can line up at the 15 like you are kicking and go for 2. Eventually somebody will try it just as a surprise.

Not in college or high school. In the NFL, the team can have the ball spotted at the 2 or at the 15. At the 2, they have to go for 2 points. At the 15, they kick it for 1 point or they can still fake the kick and go for 2 points.

I wouldn't want to be the coach that has to explain that move after the game.

A 2 point try from the 15 might make sense in the right circumstances, if that 1 point was really important. It is certainly more of a surprise factor from there. And if you are passing, 15 yards gives you a lot more room to run patterns and get separation from defenders. From the 2 yard line, the space for receivers to operate is very cramped.

Nice try, but if you're faking it, you don't have receivers running routes, a pocket to throw from, or anything resembling a normal pass play. If you need two, your chances have to be immensely better from close up. Plus you'd have your QB starting the play, not the holder.

And if your fake fails, well, then that's the part I wouldn't want to have to explain. :)
