when quirin published his work in what? 79? the big inflation of the 80's had not hit yet. any insights on what claiming value would today best describe the class of horse on which to model track to track pars?

I would say the only way is to track horses who ship across circuits and see how they performed at the new venue. Its a ton of work, but I don't think any other shortcut is going to give you very reliable data.

surprised this thread didn't get more action. I don't think there is a "standard" condition that will work all that well. If there was Hollendorfer wouldn't win very often...I plan on doing this for Socal/Norcal at some point...pretty small sample size makes it a bit dubious, plus trainer changes makes it even more dubious, but it seems worthwhile.
