On a finer note (after having watched the Arc,) Golden Horn has arrived at Keeneland.

Take a moment, if you have the time, and read the comments that follow the article. It's nice to read the positive, the pride, the awe, that surrounds this champion.

Good stuff Grits - that comment section was a fun read.

It probably helps that the opposition to the l'Arc de Triomphe winner is a Midwest Thoroughbreds homebred with the great blue collar name "The Pizza Man".

Having the Arc winner run really elevates this race to a something special.
Has any horse ever won the Epsom derby, the Arc, and the BC classic in the same year?

I think what he says about The Pizza Man is dead wrong but here is your answer

Al, you and me, both. Notice that he doesn't mention that Dancing Brave may have "checked in fourth" because he was injured when a turf clod hit him dead in the eye...moving at what speed?

I believe he wrote the whole thing so he could present us with this one pearl. Jesus, how lame is this...

Yes, The Pizza Man (http://www.americasbestracing.net/en/the-latest/blogs/2015/8/26/getting-to-know-the-pizza-man/) just might deliver and bring home the dough.

I watched some of his replays and he does look really good.

I have 2 concerns in my gut about this horse. How will he do sitting 8 back of a rabbit?

When he was younger he sat further back but now has more speed. I never like the 1st of the 2nd pack position in Turf Routes. You create cover for other horses and many times don't relax as much as you should. Although I must say he did sit something like 15 wide early in the ARC before tucking down behind the race rabbit.

2nd concern. He was awesome in the ARC. Did he empty out the fuel tank there?

He is better by far than anything else in the race, so he must be used, but I would try to find another Euro to beat him. The Americans should not win the race.

And now that I look at the field again, I realize only Found is listed coming over. She is quite good, but not as good as she is. Kind of a weak year for this one.

Postponed is not coming over as well? I thought he could add spice to the 2nd pack (behind the rabbit) as he raced well 1st over in his last 2...

Not on DRF pre entries. Pizza Man actually rates decently against much of the field if that tells you how weak it is. Golden Horn may be over the top and still win this cleanly.

thanks. Of course I meant to ask has any horse won the Epsom derby, Arc, and BC TURF. What a feat if he can do it. Oh and I agree about The Pizza Man. Although he often rises to the occasion, I don't think he'll be delivering the dough on Saturday.

Hes 3/5 ML in the early odd of the pre entries

He doesn't like a wet turf.

Major play against if it's wet......(If he doesn't scratch like he has before on wet turf).

Wet to a European race course is much different than wet here. Most courses would never rate better than what we would call good on their driest days.

I hear they're stabling him in the winner's circle to save time.

I always try to beat a favorite on BC weekend, but this one isn't easy to see losing. Maybe I'll talk myself into someone else by Saturday but out of those taking a shot no one jumps off the page. I haven't convinced myself The Pizza Man can do it but we'll see what the board says.

It is not a good field this year. Found is a good horse but I don't think she can beat him. No other Euros. That says a lot about what they think. He would have to be way over the top to lose this. Can happen, certainly, but I don't think I'll be risking my money on this one.

A lot of good Arc winners have ran in the turf and not one has won this race. As much as I can't stand that any horse would have "Kitten" in his name, I like Big Blue Kitten to win.

5 I believe is the number and I'm not sure they faced fields this poor. I guess that is the best of the US horses though so can't blame you for going that way.

you're right, it's 5. Trempolino in '87 was the only one to finish on the board. Maybe it's just coincidence but it's hard to dismiss the effort it takes to win the Arc plus the travel. Golden Horn will be 1/2 so you'll get a nice payoff if someone else wins. Of course you have to pick that winner

Nice try by Golden Horn but not quite good enough to overcome the Arc winner's "curse". Heck of a race by the top 3.

Worst name for a horse since Presious Passion.
