Best racing in the world at Hong Kong. Not sure about all the ADWs, but Twinspires, Xpressbet and TVG all carry Sha Tin and Happy Valley, co-mingled into those huge pools.

You can bet $5000 to win on a 25-1 shot, and the horse will stay at 25-1.... :)

I’ve been playing HK since TVG started co-mingling the betting. I feel like I’m getting the value I used to see 35 years ago in NY. Quinellas pay like Exactas and Triples like Supers!

Nothing bothers me more than handicap a race and find a horse at 10-1 in the morning line open up at 2-1, and that comes from a former track handicapper. Sometimes you miss them by a little but some tracks the odds are way off.

Creating a morning line is no picnic, especially at those smaller venues where you have no clue which connections are trying until the wagering opens up.

Fortunately, at Hong Kong, they don't mess around with a morning line, so that helps set expectations and avoid confusion. Somehow Xpressbet gets a morning line for Sha Tin, but I have no idea where those numbers come from. It does peg the :6: as the favorite in the upcoming 3rd race (260/100), but the second choice :9: is supposed to be lower (450/100) versus the current odds of 11-1.

Like Nitro, I'm reminded of the prices at Hong Kong to be much more inline with what we had in the U.S back in the 1980s. Now if we could just figure out a way for Moreira to take a long vacation...... :)

4-5 on the :6: Ashkiyr who is won 1 out of 32 in Hong Kong, no thanks, was thinking of passing the race but looking deeper for something now with so much money on a favourite with that track record.

Things I like about Hong Kong and things I could do without: Likes- Big fields, turf racing that are run more like American racing and not English (slow everything down to a crawl), The HKJC control of everything that is going on, all male horses are gelded, 2 racing days a week (not overloaded), the presentation of the product and again BIG FIELDS! Dislikes- Plastic racing and the long waiting for the Trakus charts to come out (been informed by Trakus that it's the HKJC holding them up sometimes).

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about the all-weather races either. Seems it's dead chalk, or a bomb that's hard to figure. The turf races usually have the pace to shoot at, which is nice.

Race 4: Gonna take a flyer on the :13: , who should be closing late wide. The two chalks look tough, so it's hard to bet big. Saver QPs with the :1: :6: :10: :11: :12:
