I've had this question for awhile and before I call my bank I thought I'd check here for opinions.

I have a bank app on my phone which I've only used at home since my wi-fi is encrypted etc. (btw, I usually use my laptop for banking). I know everyone (media, people etc.) cautions about using your phone for banking while at free public wi-fi spots. I re-read the terms of the app which stated it uses a secure encryption algorithm. My phone when I'm out of the house uses a 3G (or 4G network when available) and I'm guessing it's okay to bank while in those networks.

Is it still really secure banking when you're out in snoop land?

Also, when you're in a free public wi-fi establishment and don't use the free connection are you still secure while banking?

Thanks for any info.

The FTC addresses some of these issues here:

Don't do it !.....Even the "free games and apps" that seem so innocent, are always phoning home, with or without your permission...
