Today we go to Churchill. I wanted to do Belmont, but it looks like rain and the possibility of several races being off the turf.

Track: Churchill Downs Date: 06-11-2004

Race: 3 Selection: 7 ML: 9/2

Analysis: This is a cheap sprint with a pressured pace scenario. The 7 has highest PPF and a P running style. There is also good balance in the odds line. #7 is one of two VTR horses.

Race: 7 Selection: 3 ML: 5/1

Analysis: 6F, C30000 with a pressured pace scenario. #3 is an S horse with a decent PPF rating. It is running in open claimers like this even though it has all of its conditions left. Interesting…

Race: 9 Selection: 6 ML: 5/1

Analysis: Turf route, with a neutral pace scenario. #6 doesn’t any turf lines in the pp’s, but has run a 16 PPF on the dirt! In most cases, PPFs are much higher on the turf than on the dirt. He is 13/25 lifetime on the grass. I think he may a little bit left in the tank to get it done.

I found this to be difficult card to look at in terms of HM or just regular “cold dope” handicapping. I may have to come back in the evening for some Hollywood plays.
