According to a tweet from Stonestreet Stables, Rock Fall (c, 4, Speightstown–Renda, by Medaglia d’Oro), a leading contender for the GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint, suffered a catastrophic injury in a Saturday morning gallop at Keeneland.

“We are heartbroken to confirm our Rock Fall sustained a life ending training injury this morning at Keeneland,” read a tweet from the owner.

Bred in Kentucky by SF Bloodstock, Rock Fall, a $250,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga purchase by Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Stables, won his maiden at second asking before achieving ‘TDN Rising Star’ status with a handy Belmont allowance victory last June. The nine-length winner of a stakes-quality Keeneland allowance in his 4-year-old debut, the dark bay colt had rattled off three consecutive stakes tallies in the GII True North S. June 5, the GI A. G. Vanderbilt H. Aug. 1 and most recently the GI Vosburgh S. Sept. 26 to run his overall winning streak to seven.

Just nine days ago, the announcement was made that Rock Fall would be added to the WinStar stallion roster to stand alongside his leading sire. He amassed a record of 8-7-0-0 with earnings of $749,180.

Gallop? Gotta be more to the story.

The whole story is that probably he suffered micro fractures in his legs from the many hard races he ran in before. Sprinters put a lot of stress on their legs and top class sprinters put extreme stress on their legs. This last work was just the straw that broke the camels back.
Sad end to a great sprinter. R.I.P. Rock Fall.

Gallop? Gotta be more to the story.

He missed almost 1 year after his June 2014 race, he was entered in a race in July 2014, but scratched.
Supposedly he wasnt 'traveling well' so he went to Kentucky for some tests. Why those tests showed is a secret of course.

His Saratoga win was a 'bottom of the well' effort, he seemed to have his head turned in the stretch a bit, I didnt notice him holding his head that way in the Belmont races before and after.
