Wasn't sure where to put this thread, but thought some of you might be interested in a small bit of Las Vegas history. This week I was attending a conference at the Linq here in Las Vegas. The Linq is a fairly new place but previously had been the Quad for a couple years, and before that it was the Imperial Palace. I had been to the IP many times to play the horses and to see the Legends show etc, so it was kind of interesting to see what they did to the property.

Well, yesterday I got there about an hour early so while I was waiting I kind of wandered around. Like all casinos, they all have meeting/conference rooms and yesterday, ours just happened to be on the 4th floor. So I am just walking around the 4th floor, and I see a sign for the fitness center so I go there to check it out but the door is locked. I happen to notice this white door, which I assumed would be locked or just be a closet for the housekeepers.

I go ahead and try the door and its unlocked. I go in and all of a sudden I am back in the old IP Race and Sports Book. All of the posters are still up ( horses, boxing, basketball etc ) and all of the tv monitors for the gamblers are still there. Down below was the old bar and eating areas and then out to where the showroom was. I felt like I had walked back in time.
If any of you live in vegas or visit here go check it out. Not sure how long they will leave that door unlocked but I thought it was really cool. To get there, you can either take the elevators behind ( not next to ) the concierge desk to the 4th floor, or you can take the escalator near the front desk up 1 level then take the elevator up to the 4th. Once you leave the elevator vestibule, go right and then take another right. The white door is on your left right before you get to the spa. I took some pics but not sure how to add them to a post.

Ah, the good ole Imperial Palace Sportsbook, was like a library whenever I visited during the holidays. George the teller is/was a cool guy, think he went over to the Rio after they shut it down for the renovations.

One of the last visits before the renos I went next door to the burger joint in between races and some brother was threatening the cook cause there were no onions on his cheeseburger. She was waving the spatula at him. Security was called in. God Bless Vegas!!

Sure does, also seemed weird to have O'Sheas attached since I used to go to the original one from time to time.
