All I can say is wow... What a player friendly place.

Started by getting there around 10am local time, walk up to the window and ask for a DRF.. Nice lady hands me one with all East coast tracks for the can't beat price of FREE!

I am not a big player maybe $10-$15 per race. With every bet I made on Saturday and Sunday I would get one ticket for a free drink. Couple the great player friendly atmosphere and a Saturday and Sunday of betting College and NFL with all the free drinks and it makes for a great weekend.

I wonder how many new fans we would get if the tracks were half this player friendly...

Also I don't think because the Wynn has a large casino to subsidize this player friendly atmosphere is a legitimate argument, because half the tracks also have a casino money.

The sportsbook director is a huge horse racing fan, so that's a big factor in how the players are treated.

Steve Wynn sought out the best with John Avello, who learned from the best in Bob Gregorka at the Sands and Lenny Del Genio at Bally’s. Avello is a HORSEPLAYER'S best friend in Vegas.....

I don't want to give away all of your secrets, Randall, but didn't you once work in a Vegas race book? Seems like you know a few people. ;)

You will enjoy yourself! By the 5th race at Santa Anita, your PPs might be a little fuzzy though ;)

Just found this article about John Avello (and American Pharoah) - gives some idea of his love of the game.

when the Mirage first opened up, they were the first in town that had an electronic board for horses and sports lines.

they also started booking horse match ups. they used to take $2000 a number on it. in a 9 race card at Belmont they put up 3 different races with match ups.

this was when Jimmy Vaccaro was the director there. i got along real good with him. there was a time when he had a line on a playoff football game 49'rs and Giants. i wanted to bet the Giants for some big money 5 days before the before the game on a money line. i didn't have that kind of money on me and he allowed me to wire it to the hotel and honored the line when the money came in. everything they did there was first class. its not surprising that its the same way in his new hotel.

Concur on the Wynn R&S book. Great place for horse and sports players. Will be there around Thanksgiving for a few days. On an earlier comment, I'm pretty sure Caesars was the first book with electronic boards for horses and sports.

This is about playing the horses in Vegas...specifically the Wynn. Not about how tracks can't compete with such an atmospheres...thanks friend.

I bet you didn't know this, but you can't go out to the paddock and check out the horses live at the Wynn...for starters...

Look who's talking, you're the one who got in a huge battle about private messages and wouldn't let it go and you're calling me out for derailment ? That's pretty funny.

As far as going to the paddock, ill take the free adm free pkg, free DRFs and free beverages over 'paddock inspection' any day.

Its more than free pps, free admission and free drinks (not free unless you are a true piker, got to tip that cocktail girl) Its all about the atmosphere, the other things you can get and more in your own domicile.

And besides, when it comes to stuff like this, unfortunately for you, my opinion is the only one that counts.

You really are hopeless. And to think, EMD is gone and you're still here? That's just not right. Any further replies to this tangent will and should be deleted.
