Deserves its own thread. Good god, sorry for all the sharps who suffered a crushing fate against this horse in the show pool, this is a beat you'll remember 20 years from now.

I took my shot . If that 2 didn't hit the board I might have been looking at a $80 or $100 show windfall on a $5 show bet..as it was I won a dollar :D

COMPLETED: a37f6-5d469MNR#5 $5 Show 3 none $5.00 $6.00 + $1.00

i had been plunging on her every time in 2 furlongs except for tonight because i never like to bet those type of horses that made a start around a turn the race before.

next race i will be back on her again.

Take a look at the 5th race at Mountaineer last night (9/28). There was a huge show jump on Huntress Helena. I know a few people that played against her to show hoping to make a score. The race is pretty amazing.

Nice find. That was one crazy trip - packed an awful lot into a 2 furlong race!

Wasn't much interest in the first thread about this......I'm thinking it's the track--Mountaineer just doesn't have "it".

What a race, thought there was no way in hell the #2 could have it the board after that start.

Peter Berry great call, he thought the show jumpers were going to take a bath.
People will be watching this replay for years to come.

Yes very interesting how often do they run 2F races at MNR ?

HUNTRESS HELENA reared at the break almost unseating the rider, the rider did lose his right stirrup, veered out to the ten path, hit stride in mid stretch and finished with a flourish in a remarkable performance to snare the show
position.

Race Conditions:
FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. Three Year Olds, 122 lbs.; Older, 123 lbs. Claiming Price $5,000,
For Each $2,500 Higher In Claiming Price An Additional 1 lb. (Highest Claiming Prices Preferred).
Claiming Price:
$25,000 -
$5,000
Two Furlongs On The Dirt.

A very creative race condition.
Basically it's for $5000 claimers, but if you want your horse to run for a higher claiming price you can add 1lb for every $2500 up to a maximum of $25000.

A way of getting horses of different levels to race against each other at this short distance.

2FDirt Sprints Speed Bias: 100% -WnrAvgBL -1stCall: -0.0 -2ndCall:- 0.0
# Races: -11 -03/01 - 09/27 -E/P ++ -%Races Won -100%

According to Bris info..they've run 11 of these 2F races--all 11 were won by an EP horse that grabbed the lead right away and never looked back. There happened to be 3 EP horses in that race--none very appealing.
At the last second, one horse caught my eye- :8: DOWNTOWN COWBOY 10-1 ml. This horse had actually raced in a 7F race Sunday! 2 days ago. I checked the trainer--nothing to write home to mama about. Seriously nothing. And the owner--something or someone mysteriously called "The IRA".

I know I could have said this in fewer words.....but I took a flyer on 'Cowboy. He was a well-beaten 7th @ 16-1. The E-1 horse w/the highest last SR grabbed the lead, wired & paid $3.60. Give this one to the chalksters.

dumb enough to think that #2 was a sure "single" in the pick 5. I think the Jockey did something. never seen a Horse break right turn like that. Like he did a U turn.

Has she lost a step? Lost her last race and wasn't the fav. Now she's a price against another Patterson foe.

should have checked my notes, but was distracted. No, her last race was fine against an absolute rocket. Won tonight at 6-1 when the 1/5 shot got banged around at the start.

ps for trip guys, that was a gold rail night that benefited the winner and hurt the horse that placed tonight at 8-1

Never thought those 2f races could be so interesting, and formful

you have to give Mountaineer some credit for even having this race. it wound up bringing plenty of interest for the season.

in the past they have done some great things like the marathon distant series to mimic the triple crown races. on the weekend after the triple crown race they had `1 1/4 distance for the Kentucky Derby, 1 3/16 for the Preakness and 1 1/2 for the Belmont.

they also made a big production when RAPID REDUX was going to break the record.

what the place needs to do is figure out how to get potential race players in their doors and i am sure they will do well once they do.

They have me hooked line and sinker this year. I will be sorry to see them close for the season. I wish I could tell you why I got hooked but some thoughts other than a positive ROI this season
- Mark and Nancy...knowledgeable and fun to listen to
- track biases...used to my advantage as a regular follower
- everyone tries in almost every race....what a novel idea, but the jocks trainers and owners want purse money and really go for it as they need it as working class dedicated horse people
- horizontals have great value for the investment
- 2f races are great
- Hidden gems in their turf racing with many false favorites

Been singing their praises for some time now.

What you have there is pure horseplay/handicapping without the absurd backside manipulations found at many ovals.

Quite rare to see a result that doesn't make sense at MNR.
