Unrepented won the 6th race today by 9 lengths at FL at odds of 0.05-1.

He was on my horses-to-watch list, but when I saw the odds I decided to pass the race.

The exacta paid $1.80 for a $1 bet.

I've never seen one that low.

I am curious why anybody would find betting into $7,500 superfecta pools with a 25% takeout would be worth pursuing.

Better sequence then usual at mtr tonight..sometimes they have some super short fields or some goofy 2 furlong race in the mix that gets won by the same horse every week

Dude...

Race 6 Trifecta pool: $20,551
$2 trifecta payout: $10,261
2 winning $2 tickets (minus takeout)

Race 6 Superfecta pool: $7,572
$2 superfecta payout: $4,537
1 winning $2 ticket (minus takeout)

It's not complicated.

Years ago I regularly used to make a small track, pari-mutuel play on superfectas as long as the track had a $1 minimum bet. Even in an 8-horse race there are 1,680 superfecta combinations and the less likely aren't going to be covered. What I was trying to do was hit an "ALL" ticket, which are very common at small venues that don't have 50 cent or 10 cent minimums. I would essentially box three horses in first and second, all horses in third, and the two longest shots in fourth (assuming they weren't already in the first two slots). 3 X 2 X ALL X 2. In an 8 horse field this would cost $60, 9 horse field $72. In essence you were looking to snag a pool shot cheaply. I was regularly hitting the bet. I wound up stopping when I hit one straight up with a 20-1 horse on top, the longest shot in the race in fourth, none of the favorites in the first two slots, and I had to split the pool with someone who apparently was using the same strategy. Also, long run it is a really not a big ROI, even if you are ahead. The risk eventually exceeded the reward.

as Snoop would say....DIZZAAMMM! I thought the 98cent 10center I saw, was the lowest..........there is something fundamentally wrong, when a man hits one of the most difficult wagers in horse racing, the cashier congratulates you-- and slides THIRTY-FOUR CENTS under the cage.
Guess it couldn't have been that difficult if it only paid thirty four cents.

Little Brown Jug week at Delaware County Fair
Race 6 exacta just paid $3.40 for a buck.

But I think these prices occur daily in harness racing

Saturday at SA, the $2 DD from Beholder($2.20 win) to Songbird ($2.40 win) paid $2.20. Can't get lower than that. Better to bet win on either.

If you wanted to bet a 23k cold DD you could have bet a pick 6 instead with 4 All's and 2 singles and got 3-5 or 4-5 on your money.

I also thought that was odd. Didn't the people betting the DD look at the payout or maybe nobody looks at payouts.
