Making plans for my Thanksgiving break. Kicking around the idea of Vegas for a couple days or Del Mar for the fall meet. Leaning towards Vegas at this point. What is the best horse book there? I am just talking in terms of how they treat their players. I am used to the Borgata in AC basically getting anything you want. Free programs, top shelf bar with drink tickets for only wagering a couple bucks. Anything similar to this there? I have been to Vegas plenty of times, but most times to bet sports and hang pool side. Since this will be a solo trip im looking for somewhere to set up shop for a couple days.

If you are just going solo...why not just drive up the road to the Mohegun Sun in Ct. No jet lag and they have all the amenities including a race book. Several solid restaurants including Michael Jordon's, Bollo Italian and Bar American. Buying a couple of forms sure is cheaper than air fare/car rental across the country. For a tip you can always get a cocktail watching the races.

The Red Rock would be my choice with their 5 million dollars worth of brand new UHD TV's, free drinks, free forms, and great restaurants.
Away from the strip in a nice quiet area.

I forgot to mention I am in Tucson. Six hour drive to Delmar or six and a half hour drive to Vegas

I don't think there's a better book for horseplayers than Wynn. Besides having an outstanding set up and service, players never wait behind sports bettors. And they have a huge list available for Derby futures and prop bets, plus John Avello will book most anything reasonable upon individual request. I am looking forward to checking out the Westgate on my next trip, as the old LV Hilton was a personal fave before Wynn opened and has just had a complete makeover.

I used to do work at the Borgatta on debugging their slot machine software on behalf of IGT.
Most places in Vegas will be much better than the Borgatta sportsbook

The Westgate complete makeover is no where near finished. No seating for horse players. Construction all around you, who knows how long it will take to be up and running 100%.

I'm in Marana. Shoot the 8 across and it will take you about 4 to Del Mar.

Are you enjoying Tucson? I have only been out here since January (grew up in Chandler, though).

Absolutely hate it. Too hot, almost fell on a cactus and got bit by a lizard. As an east coast guy it is taking some serious time to adjust. Im out only here for two years though. Im at the University here, once this degree is im outta here.

Yeah it's pretty dirty down there by the school, seems like every road is torn to shit and is 35mph.

Not kidding about the critters. Two dogs last week were bit by diamondbacks in their back yards in my subdivision. We also have had tarantula breeding recently, cat sized colorado river toads, coyotes, bobcats and javalina. It's def a wild area with all these washes running through town.

Got a picture of a toad eating a tarantula from two weeks ago if I can figure out how to upload it.

Go to Delmar not any other decent racing that time of year to play in Vegas.

I like the Red Rock too but it's pretty expensive to stay there with no comp.

If I was heading to Vegas over Thanksgiving by myself, I'm going downtown. Reasonably-priced rooms; easy walk to possibly different gridiron lines; and race books on every corner.

Been wanting to check this place out for a long time but the per night always seemed way overpriced. Do they have any good deals on the rooms from time to time?
