Anyone out there have this book? Is it a worthwhile addition
to my library?
Basically its one of those systems similar to the garbage published in American Turf Monthly. You could probably find it on ebay or something for less than 5 bucks.

Strange that book is mentioned. I have had that book for many years, and since I have a long press run today I will glance through it again and see if I can find any redeeming value in it. I don't recall ever having it pick a winner or recall the reason I bought it, many years ago.
How about a very old book "Secrets of Sucessful Handicapping"
By Vincent Florio. 1st capping book I ever purchased.

Whoa....going to back to the Middle Ages eh LOL . I have several
old pamphlets around here someplace. I think they all came
from Racing Star Weekly .. Or the old American Turf Monthly.
I have the book, bought it after Jim Bayle did a computer run of the system.
Very low win percentage, less than 10% but it only lost 8% which is less than half the track take. This was over a few thousand races, so it can point out overlays for exotics but the long run-outs can make it a very difficult method to play. Still the results were better than about 90% of the other systems he tested.
Uses days away from the races and running positions for its picks.

Hammerhead (sorry for the previous spastic reply):
can you give me 10 words on "secrets of successful ....".
Should this be on my reading list?

Its a very small book about 80 pages and covers the basics of horse racing. Very strict guidelines. 14 days or less males mostly.
Uses very small periods of data from 2 weeks to a month.
