race 1:

:5: Fabulous Miss Bea: 4 for 7 at this level on turf. Ran a good race here last year. Can stalk and pounce.

:7: Book Club won here last year over a similar layoff. Handles yielding turf. Nice bullet last week.

:8: Justanewkidintown: 50% in the money in turf claimers

I don't play Kentucky Downs much, but doesn't it look like they were dying and crawling home? Stretch run looked like a bottom level claimer at Tup.

I know it is a classy turf meet, yet my offshore labels it as a D track and will not rebate it. Hell, I get a rebate at Charles Town.

All the same. Will join you and try to find a few winners today.

Will take a shot with :5: Yardbird Misfits in the 2nd. Just can't trust that Leparoux won't find a way to screw this up for the chalk. Definitely wouldn't want to find out at 3-5.

race 2:

:2: Purely Boy: 8 for 13 since moved to turf. Best speed figures. Better routing. Unproven on yielding but likes "good" ground.

:4: More Than Noble: stylish winner over yielding turf. Good form on dirt lately. A very soft ground bomb.

:8: Sounds Divine: huge improvement first time turf.

:13: Forest Elf: 6 for 16 in the exacta on turf. Yielding turf specialist (1st > 2nd > 1st). Good figures. Form a little dubious

the only way is to hit a big score... and the yielding turf makes life tougher

race 3:

:5: Elaine Kowaleski: 2 good runs on the green, big turn of foot last time.
:6: Cooper's Keeper: much improved run this year. By a good turf sire, back on turf.
:8: Gilley: Such a good turf pedigree, could wake up on the green at this lower level.

A few years back I drove out to Santa Anita for a Friday card from Phoenix. Got there, paid for parking and turf club admission, got my form, got my chowder and corned beef sandwich. Was a partly cloudy morning but had rained the night before.

I'll be damned if they didn't cancel 30 mins to post due to the drainage issues they were having with the track. Offered free admission the next day when I had to be back in Phoenix for work.

That was awesome.

Been a really shitty past two days. Cards were awful yesterday and it looks like we are now stuck with 5 horse fields at Arlington for the next few hours.

Los Al should have a really good opening day handle wise with this happening.
