Race One: “The Jumpers”
:5: Bau Bai Gold, trained by Rosie Napravnik’s older sister, “Jazz,” has won two out of five steeplechase efforts. This Pulpit-bred 5-year-old mare was second in her last in early May at Nashville’s Percy Warner Park. This mare should be “on the engine” playing “catch-me-if-you-can”. Ross Geraghty is in the stirrups.

Race Two: 6 Furlongs Allowance, n2L
:1: Buckskin Doll. This Todd Pletcher trainee won her last, convincingly, in claiming company. This 4-year-old filly now steps up into the allowance ranks. This Dixieland Band-bred will, admittedly, need the same kind of patient, wait-and-see stalking trip to prevail. Another caveat: this filly’s been away since late June; however, trainer Pletcher does very well with horses that have been on the shelf. Luis Saez is in the irons.

Race Three: 5 and ½ Furlongs MSW on the turf
:6: Path Dependent was stretched out a wee bit too far in his last and finished up the track after contending early. This Henrythenavigator-bred now cuts back over a panel to a distance he should like. In this gelding’s first start he finished second a-nose in similar company. A trouble-free trip with proper handling could land this 3-year-old in the winner’s circle. Jose Lezcano is in the irons for trainer Mark Hennig.

Race Four: 6 Furlongs, 25k claimer
:6: Concealedwithakiss could do nothing about a week ago at “The Spa” after being bumped at the break. Significant class drop. Jockey change to Joel Rosario. Yes, only a week off since this Unbridled’s Song-bred filly graced the Saratoga Racecourse oval. At her best, this filly can prevail. Ed Plesa, Jr. trains this daughter of Political Force.

Race Five: OC, 5 and ½ Furlongs on the turf
:1: Asia has won two in a row on the lawn at this same general sprinting distance. I believe the rail should help this Smart Strike-bred filly. Jockey Rafael Hernandez (in from Fairmount) is trainer Wesley Ward’s “go-to” guy. A “bullet” work, albeit two weeks ago, signals readiness.

Race Six: Maiden claiming turf route
:15: Millpoint Creek draws in from the AE’s. This lightly-raced 5-year-old roan mare should be able to overcome her outside post. It’s imperative that jockey Jose Lezcano break alertly on the long front-straight to allow this mare to settle into a comfortable stalking position as the horses reach the first turn. Mike Dini trains.

Race Seven: 85k Allowance Route
:5: Equilateral (not be confused with isosceles right or scalene) just missed, second a-neck, against similar in late June. The slight stretch-out here should help. Running style favors stretch drive. Trainer Bob Ribaudo needs to “get off the schneid”. Jose Ortiz reprises the ride.

:9: Film Shot is an admitted longshot try in what I perceive as a wide-open race. Tough to quantify. Jockey Julien Leparoux is having an uncharacteristicly poor meet. Yet, this mount could be Leparoux's wake-up call? Trainer Dave Carroll is also “on the schneid,” yet he does reasonably well w/horses that have been on the shelf. This gelding has hit the tote in half his turf tries.

Race Nine: Main track route, at one mile, 100k New York State-bred Stallion Series
:3: Freudie Anne. This 3-year-old filly looks like she can “get the distance”. This Freud-bred has won half of her eight lifetime races. Eddie Kenneally trains this grand-daughter of Storm Cat. Kenneally does very well with horses that are coming off layoffs. Jose Ortiz is in the irons.

:1: Bird Humor is both cutting back a half-panel and dropping down in the “selling” ranks. A solid 3-furlongs “bullet” signals readiness. Joel Rosario is in the stirrups for trainer Nick Zito, Is this the race Zito gets off “the schneid”? Certainly possible.
