:6: Sun and Moon looked stimulated and 'on her toes' in the post parade, but I checked her twice and couldn't get past the :5::1:.
Didn't like the (fav) :4: at all either...
I'll have to look at the replay, but the pace was fairly hot and 6 wasn't quite good enough to carry.

these little dirt heats are very contentious in Saratoga...

^i did put the 4 (came up the rail, appeared to change leads this time) on my watch list. I think the public has her a little overrated.
r3 - I have to pass.
Had a 5-7 double from race 2, but that is 'out'. Low odds on the 7 here with big trainer and dropdown.

r4 :4: :6: :3: are my selections. I don't have a play. This is a tough race with several contenders. I'm surprised 6 is ice cold in betting. I'm surprised 3 doesn't look better on the track.
4 looks best to me if you can trust him to fire.

Ice Wine was smart to put Saez on that one. Nobody wanted to win that race (including the 6), and he dragged the 6 across the finish line. Impressive feat of strength for a guy that can't weigh more than 115lbs...

Wesley Ward horses should start winning. In Europe, after his Royal Ascot exploits, he's regarded as one of the best sprint trainers of the world. His 2 year old filly Acapulco can became best sprinter of Europe, running against older horses, nex week.

r5:9: :13: both look relatively mature in comparison with this group.
9 can clearly move. Would like to see 13 warm up a bit...
edit-13 is very nervous and very aware of her surroundings. I have no idea if this will affect her when she should relax on the backstretch.

r5:
:1: TIZASONG shows a bullet training long, and good speed and progress working short: a wire to wire threat if quick out of the gate.
:13: JR Star might close late to get in the exacta.

tempted to bet 9, but i will give them a race
/postrace comment: 3 obviously ran a very nice race. 5 was really striding out at the end.

Andy Serling has said this filly (the winner) had a workout of 20 and change, but I don't know where, and wasn't bet like a very good thing. Maybe in a breeze up before the sale...
silly me, it's been a $90 exacta with our second choice

race 6:
:10: MARVINO is a new and unexposed horse on turf; can close, stalk, lead.

That was a generous exacta. The 3 was a live consideration, but I didn't have her that live.
r6 :10::9::4::6::8:
give me the good jocks in a race that could end up chaotic.
Disappointed that the public is betting 9 "because of Pletcher" I like that one a lot more, when viewed from the morning line.

I don't like anybody in the 7th, but why is the :3: getting hammered??
I know she has Pletcher...
Is it more than that?? I'm tempted to bet the 3 to catch a ride with some sharp money, but I will pass.

^^ guess they were just blindly betting Pletcher. Horse looked dull on form and ran dull.

race 8
:2: Micromanage ran the perfect 'prep' last time (a 1m70 event that came up very big at Monmouth) for this glorified allowance race. Not much apparent competition in here. I am surprised that the 'rabbit' #8 is being bet. Not going to get much price on the 2.

race 8:
:7: TACTICUS won twice over a very deep and tiring polytrack (mile &1/2, by 9 and 4 lengths) in GB. He's got a classy and staying pedigree and looks like this is his race-objetive in Saratoga (first time lasix today).

the 8 will run a nice pace fig, and could even surprise, but the 2 was the 'intent' horse here.

Well done . Glad the late money came in on the 2, I would have had a slight loss for the day if I had kept that wager.

thanks, I follow mostly French and British racing, and races like this one are easier for me. I came back to USA racing to refresh my mind, and Saratoga is the best American racing right now.

:2: SWEPT ASHORE is a very well bred colt, maybe the sire influence (miler on turf) is bigger than his mother (top spriter). Debut for a trainer strong in all categories.
